Window Weaving

For day 20 of the Spring Card Class 2, we learned how to use up scraps in 2 different ways and do some weaving too.

For this card, I used Memory Box stitched circle die, scraps and a Lawn Fawn Hello die cut 3 times. The cardstock is White and So saffron (SU).

I used a blue shimmery cardstock for this card, I cut a rectangle opening in it and weaved vellum strips.  I have colored vellum, and on the yellow, used a Y13 Copic marker. This little
House Mouse is so sweet, isn't he?  I colored using Copic markers. The sentiment is Gina K designs.  I added a few sequins.
We mssed my Grandson's first birthday with this pandemic....and the shut downs.  My DIL
is keeping me happy with IG videos and pictures daily, but not like being there for sure.

Monoprinting

On Day 19 (Sunday) of the Spring Card Class 2, we learned a technique for monoprinting.

I added a bit of color to the background, the images I stamped onto the cardstock are still visible. I used Unity stamps for this card.

This technique produces 2 usable pieces of cardstock, but I decided to use one over the other. I really like lilacs.  This stamp set is the first Unity set I ever owned...purchased at Archivers way back in the day : )  The sentiment is also by Unity.

Colorful Abstract backgrounds

Day 18 of the Spring card class 2 (which was Saturday), we learned an inking technique for making abstract backgrounds.

This card design was a CASE of a card I saw on Splitcoaststampers by Karen (Art Dex=co Diva). Her card is much more colorful though.....  This was a quick and easy way to make a background, and fast too.
The images are all Hero Arts.  The die is by Gina Marie Designs.

The colors are off a tad- my computer had a keyboard issue and I am going to be using a Temp (older one) for a few weeks......

Bugaboo- Color /Inspiration challenge

This week over at Catch the Bug, we are using this photo as an inspiration to create.

Here is my card inspired by this photo:

I took the yellow and the color of the butterfly from the photo.  The background was created using Distress Oxide inks, and the panel was embossed using a 3D EF by Sissix. The image was colored using Copic markers. There is a touch of Sakura Stardust Gelly roll pen added for sparkle.
The image is called Beautiful Blocks, In Color

Beach scene

I f I had to pick one place on earth to spend day in and day out- it would be at a beach, with the sun shining down on my face.  Not too humid or hot wither, just a faint breeze.....  and a nice cool drink close by : )  This House Mouse image is perfect- on the beach, under a drink umbrella and a cool block of ice at your feet!  LOL

I love House Mouse images : )  I stamped this image with the SCS Ways to Use it challenge of one layer in mind, so no 2nd layer possible at all.....  I made a mask and used Distress inks to add color to the background. After the Distress inks were added, I used Copics to color in the image. A perfect day  I am going to send this to Lori- she is the recipient of the Teapot Tuesday challenge requests today, and her theme is at the beach.

Bugaboo- Humor Me Wednesday

At Bugaboo, we post on Wednesdays with images that reflect a daily celebration.  My card reflects 5/18 as a "Buy a Musical Instrument" Day.

This image is called "Ewe Rock" and is by Bugaboo. The panel was colored using Distress Oxide inks, then run through a Sissix EF and I rubbed Distress ink Peeled Paint over the top of it.  The image is colored using Copics and I used Sakura Stardust Jelly Roll pen for added sparkle.
The Memory Box rectangle stitched die was used to cut out the image, and I lined it up and cut off one side of the panel by moving the die over for a 2nd run through- so the panel is smaller than the die itself. Finally, I used a corner rounder to trim the corners.

Alpha H+House Mouse and Holiday

I have joined in a group on SCS called the Alpha Crew.  The do an alphabet challenge each week- and this week is H.

I used Copics to color this image. It is a House Mouse image and a Holiday image at that!  One more Christmas card done!
For the layout, I cut some pieces of coordinating DP 1 1/4" and the Ruby Red Cardstock by SU 1 1/2". My goal was to try to use pastel colors, but that changed...….
  The sentiment is by SU

Grad Hats 2020- picture tutorial

My daughter is a teacher, and wanted to make a gift for her seniors.  She saw a project on Pinterest, and showed me a picture, and I made a pattern for her (us) to put together.

How fun, right???  My daughter filled the jars with affirmations and will add a letter- plus candy : )

She had constriction paper to use, and school colors blue and white.  I cut a strip 12" by 2 3/4"  I scored each sheet at 3/8"

This piece is going to go around the jar, so measure your jar and add a 1/4"-3/8" Folded area.  We cut little triangles in that extra border since the piece will go around in a circle to meet the cap (top).

This is what this piece looks like when fit around the jar. I slipped it off the jar and marked where the adhesive should go.  I added a strip of 1/4" double sided tape to the end of the strip and adhered it.

I am using daughters construction paper, so punched our 3 circles using a 1" circle punch.  For the cap, the square will depend on the size of your jar-= these are 4" x 4".

The circles are glued together, then a small hole punched in the center. A brad is inserted into the hole.  On the Lt, you are looking at the circles from the top.
Next, you will look the tassle cording around the brad and open it up and flatten the brad over the cord.  Then, I applied a 3/8" adhesive circle dot over the center of the brad.

Next, the circle brad is applied to the center of the Grad cap top.  For this later, it was too flimsy using the construction paper, so I did glue a layer to it of 4" x 4" SU blue cardstock on the bottom.

My daughter bought the tassles on Amazon about a month ago.  She added candy and affirmations, and each will have a personal letter she writes.

I hope you enjoyed this project.  We had three of us putting these together- I had everything pre-cut and punched already, and it took us about 2 hours not including adding the candy and affirmations.

I will add 2020 or something to the top of the hats before she delivers all of them.

Jan's Digital Shop midmonth post

I saw a fun tutorial for a Triple Cube Pop-up, linked by Lacyquilter (Melodie) on SCS. I am using a digital stamp set from Jan's Digital Stamp Shop for this card called Alone Together.

This type of card folds flat for mailing in a 5.5" x 5.5" envelope.

I used a piece of cardstock that was 8.5" x 11" instead of 11.5", so had to adjust my score marks a touch vs what the online directions gave me.  I scored at 5 3/8", then half of that 2 11/16- just a smidge over 2 /\5/8, then at 8 1/16" and 10 7/8".
(I scored 1/4: from one end, then found the center (not including the 1/4" section) and scored there, then the centers of the other 1/2 point marks).

If you create using Jan's images, come join us in the Anything goes challenge!!! Also, come find her groups on Facebook and Instagram!

Enjoy your Day!

What does a nice day outside look like to you???

Now if you saw a squirrel on a swing, wouldn't that put a smile on your face???  It just did not seem right to put the pup on the swing.  Actually, in my yard, the squirrels are on my bird feeders.......
This is for the Teapot Tuesday challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  The recipient loves animals. so I chose a pup and a squirrel for my card.  The background is Distress Oxide inks and the images are all colored using Copics.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Vellum overlay

I cut out a vellum and a plain white panel from a Memory Box die, and created using both.

For this card, I used the layer of die on white and used it as a stencil, applying color through the openings using the Splitcoast colors of the day.  The coffee mug and sentiment were in my scraps, so not sure what company to credit.  In the openings of the hearts, I added the three colors of the day, then added Wink of Stella shimmer.  The colors are Daffodil Delight, melon Mamba, and Calypso Coral cardstocks. I added the vellum panel over the panel- it lays over the white colors. The coffee mug was added over a circle stitched die by Memory Box.

Challenges :
Get Creative Challenge- Sparkly- the Wink of STella in the hearts- very sparkly!

Happy Graduation

Needing a grad card or two this year, I decided to use a technique from the Spring Card Class 2.

I really like the way the background worked out.  I used Grad Anya Digi from The Greeting Farm, a small sentiment from SU, and Studio G stamps for the background. The number set is not labeled.  I used Copics to color the image and used Memory Box stitched rectangle to cut out the image.

Stencil Shading

I am taking a card class- Spring Card Class 2, and Lydia showed us how to do stencil shading.

This stencil is from TCW and I used SU inks, Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Blush and Rose Red. The sentiment is Hero Arts and was stamped in Close to Cocoa ink.
Cardstocks are retired SU Rose Red and Close to Cocoa.
I added a touch of Wink of Stella to the base of some of the flowers, loving the subtle sparkle.

Love your More

There was a tutorial on Splitcoast last week for double embossing and it used a stencil, Versamark and EP.  Each time you make a technique, it makes 2 sheets of backgrounds for you to use. I combined one of my backgrounds with the Sketch challenge for this past week on Splitcoast, and made this card.

This image is from Newton's Nook.  The image was stamped using Black Tuxedo Memento ink.  The bamboo stencil is embossed and I used two green Distress inks over the card and embossing, then used a cloth over the embossing to remove any ink.  I used the leftover piece from the front panel inside the card.

Spring Card Camp 2

I have never done a card camp ever before : )  But, it is a great 'prompt' for creating and using your 'stuff', so I thought, why not???  I made three cards using the technique today

This is a CAS card.  I think it may be given to me this weekend : )  I'll save one of the kids some $$$ , hehehehe

My dear friend is turning 65 today, so I made this card for her- a fun colorful, rainbow colored card.

I did not like the base color of this card, so added different light blue Copic Coloring......  Then, I thought it looked flat, so I added some images from Unity Stamps in black and Taken with Teal. The sentiment is Unity Stamps.

Home!!!

I had a few minutes to create today and used the Sketch challenge at SCS today as a prompt.

I used a set I won in a challenge a few months ago from Dare 2B Artsy.  My husband plays men's baseball- wood bats, uniforms, umps, the whole shebang.....  So, I am always on the lookout for great baseball stamp sets.  This one also comes with a die cut as well.  And, as a side note, this is a perfect sentiment for the times we are in, isn't it???

Jan's Digi Stamps has a monthly challenge where the theme is Anything goes, and 2 winners a month.

The set I used is called Pansies for Mom. The set comes with black and white line images and pre-colored images, plus sentiments.  I love this image and wanted to use the pre-colored image for my card.  I printed out the images and used the Scan and Cut with a 0.4 border. I used older SU cardstock, a Sheena Embossing Folder, and a double stitched oval die.  The flower vase is lifted up on dimensionals.
Please come join us- anything goes!  There is an additional drawing if you use a Jan's Digi image for your entry in the challenge!

Hope

I made a bookmark today prompted by the Splitcoast challenges. One was to make a bookmark, the other was to add paint to the tag, then add white paint over that.....

This is on watercolor paper, it is embossed using a Sheena 3D embossing folder on the top, and stamped using a Unity sentiment on the bottom.  It was water colored over the dry embossed butterflies using both SU inks and Zig markers.  Also, splatter was added with Zig waterbrush markers. I added a punched hole at the top, rounded the corner, added ribbons and called it a day.  I also added it to the SCS Alpha challenge for E= Dry embossing.

Next to You

I had a little time to color last night, so checked in with the SplitcoastStampers challenges.  The Inspiration challenge was to view a photo, and be 'inspired'.

I had this sweet image by Unity, a digital image, sitting in my 'to do' pile, so I colored it, using Copic markers, die cut it and made it into a card. HERE is my photo inspiration from Splitcoast.  I have two sisters, so the image would really be perfect with one more young lady on it, or two older, wiser women...….LOL OR, I have 2 daughters, so colored using their hair colors as inspiration.

Get Well

I was able to create using a technique from Splitcoast and using a Bugaboo image x's 3

I used a digital image from the set Floral 1  and used the Sketch challenge from last week at Splitcoast. I have had these images printed out for a while, and have been waiting to create using them, and this sketch challenge was perfect!  I am also in an Alpha challenge, and it was a week for B and Z combined, so I used blue and blooms plus Zig-Zag on the edges. The sentiment is from a sentiment set at Graciellie Designs.

I have been making lots of cloth masks.  Someone in the community asked for sewers, and since I cannot work at the hospital , I can contribute by making masks.
