Create 2013

I took a couple of classes this past weekend at Create- which were so fun!  I have quite a few Alcohol inks and took a class using Alcohol inks on Yupo paper.  I loved this class- and learned alot about using the inks- which I already have : )
 Here is what we created:
The lower samples are what we began with using different mediums like hand sanitizer and white glue too. Some artists create fabulous pictures using Alcohol inks on Yupo- including my instructor- who was fabulous..... Cathy Taylor- Check out her pictures...... HERE and look under Alcohol Inks- LOVE the Peacock......WOW!

So, I had a great fun day and will look forward to having time to do this again at home : )
The top Lt- is not one we learned in the class. I put a piece of wax paper over my work area- which I made a huge inky mess out of.....and used the ink drippings from the piece on the Rt and used the wax paper and drippings like I use my Gelli plate.  I added some yellow and pulled two of these sheets- I will use them for ATC's or cards......

My second class was fun- but I am slow, so could have used more time- Doodling!  Joanne Sharpe was my instructor- another fabulous class!  My Umber talented ATC friend Trena was in both of the classes- she is a coloring Queen : )  Anyway, here are a few of the things we did:

We used Watercolor paper and lots of different Mediums.....Watercolor paint (I used some my DD gave me from China), Silks Paints, Twinkling H2O's, a Sharpie Paint Pen, Pitt pen in Black and a NEW Pitt pen in White that has a big tip on it- you are going to want one of these : ) We also used a White Signo pen and a Metallic Gelly Roll Pen. The shimmer, of course, does not show up in the pictures.

I will work on finishing these and just create- it was ALOT of fun....... Joanne played music in the class- which I will do when I do more of this at home.

Ghost Masking

I had fun digging through my unused floral images looking for the perfect image for this new Technique Junkies technique- alas- this 'retired' SU set chosen.

I used to love this Roses set and used it alot- the sentiment is from another 'retired' SU set. This is a flat card- no dimension except for the back layer. I added some sponging around the edges for added dimension.  I had to add some stitching to finish off the edges.

Sweet Stamps- Anything Goes- DT featuring *New* ArtsyfArtsy

It's another fun challenge at Sweet Stamps , as we are using Newly Released ArtsyfArtsy clear stamps! I also used a new SweetCuts Silhouette die.

I wanted to make an ATC using the new ATC Backgrounds #2 . I stamped the ATC background tone on tone on the Green Coordinations cardstock- hard to see in the picture.....

I had a Prima Paper stack on my desk, and it was calling my name too.......  I love this die- and you can flip it either way you want to........ I love history and she reminds me of a Victorian era Mom all dressed up to go to the ball...... I placed the die on another ATC Background #2 stamped in Argos -Gray ink for a Monochromatic theme. The sentiment is stamped and embossed in Black Sparkly Embossing Powder : )

Sweet Stamps Monthly Challenge- Masking

The Sweet Stamps Challenge this Month is Masking. There are so many ways to do masking..... I used the good old fashioned- make a mask and stamp over it.......

I stamped the floral images using Butterscotch Shades Die Ink (spot) onto Watercolor paper. I decided to live dangerously and take a paint brush- with barely any water on it and fill in the color into the petals and leaves by touching the outline ink and dragging it in. I used Shades Die Ink (spots) to add highlights using colors Rustic and Forest. I stamped the sentiment in Rustic. I stamped the sentiment before watercoloring the petals- in hind sight, I should have added it last as the inks are water soluble. I added a pop of color with some black (dots stamp), and added shimmer using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen- Stardust.
The Technique I used is from the latest Technique Junkies Newsletter and is called Simply Framed.

There are SO many ways to mask an image or a scene....... Give it a go and join us!   You have an entire month- the challenge runs from 8/15 thru 9/14.

It's another fun challenge at Sweet Stamps .  Our challenge for this week is Bling!
What is your favorite product to bling up your cards?

I used Creative Inspirations Paint on the Pink scalloped Icing over the Copic coloring, and added a few Rhinestones below the yummy cake. I used Prima DP- I cannot resist pink as you probably well know......  The Seam binding was colored with the R32 Copic Marker.

I was in an ATC mood too, so made up a couple of ATC's with this new Stamp Set:
I hope this will pass for a Birthday........ Colored with Copics and I used In the Pink Shades Die ink (spot) for the candy.  My Bling on this ATC-rhinestones.

I used a few different bling items here- Liquid Pearls, Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen on the flame and a Rhinestone. I used the Prima DP here again and used a Technique Junkies Technique called Faux Mosaic (2/12 newsletter).  I also used Paper Piecing for the bottom part of the Cupcake.

StampAway

I just returned home from Stampaway in Cincinnati- what a Blast!!!  I took 7 classes and went to the Friday night preview party...then shopped a little bit more Saturday AM.........

I really enjoyed making a mixed media canvas............  We used napkins, embossing paste, Pan Pastels and some stamping. WE had three choices of napkins, so no one had the same outcome...... We had 2 ladies from Pa., one from Mi and one from OH plus me at my table.

This canvas was done with paint, Gesso,  a square of texturized Wallpaper....painted and then the color scraped off with a plastic card like a credt card (or a hotel key......).  I left the sentiment off for now.  Everyone in this class made the exact same project- we were able to choose different sentiments.

My favorite class was a Parchment  technique class- no pictures as no project was completed- but I will definitely be doing some in the future......

There was a TON of shopping- so many temptations- I will have fun playing with my new 'stuff'!

I got to meet Pat Huntoon IRL for the first time, and I also met Mr Holtz himself : )

I watched his glitter presentation, ask a couple of questions about the black inks and saw a presentation with the new glitter line. The glitter is very glimmery, but has no mica- it is plastic, you can ink it and it does not fly all over the place when you used it- I look forward to giving it a try.

Oh, it's good to be home- I have not slept in my own bed since last Monday night......

Sweet Stamps- Silhouettes

It's another fun challenge at Sweet Stamps .  Our challenge for this week is Silhouettes!
A new technique from a new Technique Junkies newsletter- and it is amazing IRL!  It is called Mica Glaze embossing. I love this silhouette Dress and shoes pair from the ArtsyfArtsy line. I lightly colored over it with a Copic marker so the paper would not be stark white. I added a little Copic color to the flower on the neck and on the shoes for some interest.

HERE are the Sweet Stamps products I used on my card:

Glittery Washi Windows

The new Technique Junkies newsletter is online! I really love this newsletter- it is sooooo much fun!

I am in a blogging group on SCS, and this card is one I made for an exchange- and used Washi Tape as our monthly challenge. I used the new technique Glittery Washi Windows for my card.

I used an Amuse stamp (trees) and embossed it on a shimmery cardstock from Paper Temptress. I cut out the deer die from Sweet Stamps (love this die) and added the digi sentiment from McMahon Five Designs.

I rec'd this beautiful card from my swap partner Kelly from Sandcastle Stamper:
Kelly has also decorated the inside of the card : )
