Creative Belli Challenge #140

Our new Belli Challenge is to create with 3 shapes.

 I made a card using squares, triangles and hearts.  I thought it would be fun to make a card that is similar to a quilt- so I added a feather stitch via a Starving Artistamps stamp from a set of stitched images.
 I added a bird die from a Marianne die set. 

The Spirit of the Belli Challenge is to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments. I used twine and some Glimmer Mist that I need to use more- what a fun sparkly effect!

Creative Belli #139- CAS

The Creative Belli Challenge #139  for the next two weeks is CAS- Clean and Simple.  Well, if you know me- this is so not me!!!  Here is what I created:

 The image is Stampin Up- it is from a set called Up in the Air. I stamped it in Brown and colored it with Copics,. I added twine.  hmmmmm  I took out the score board and made a pattern in the cardstock and gave it a spritz of Glimmer Mist. 

 The Spirit of the Belli Challenge is to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments. I used twine and some Glimmer Mist that I need to use more- what a fun sparkly effect!

Cooking up a Belli Challenge- #137- Recipe

The Creative Belli Challenge for the next two weeks- Feb. 15th- Feb 29th- is a recipe.
We want to see 1) ribbon, 2) Designer papers, 3) colors and 4)gems/pearls

 The DSP is by My Mind's Eye- Stella Rose Mabel 6x6 stack that I have been hoarding.  I punched circles using a Technique Junkies Technique called Collaged Circles (from the Aug/Sept 2011 newsletter). I added in a third color- Pumpkin Pie.
  The great Zenstamping digital image was drawn by a very talented friend Juliet A - her blog is Ballpoint Bliss. I colored the image with Copic markers and added Sakura Gelly Roll pen for accents.  I cut out an additional top wing and added dimensionals. I added Wisped Frames (another Technique Junkies technique) to the die cut.

The sentiment is by Pamela-from Firecracker Designs by Pamela-store is closed- and is called Flight of Fancy

Hearts/Valentines- Creative Belli Challenge #136

 I made this card using a new Technique Junkies technique called Zenstamping for the new Creative Belli Challenge which runs from Feb. 1st until Feb. 14th.

  I have avoided all of the 'Zen' opportunities that I have had- I am not sure why...but added Zen stamping touches to the scarf and to the gloves.  I love that the scarf has hearts in it.... My husband is going to Breckenridge skiing and will be returning home right when we will be celebrating Valentine's Day- so the image is perfect for the occasion.
  I colored the image with Copics and 'texturized' his jacket. I added Faux Flower soft to her muff.  TIP: You can use any scraps of styrofoam you have to create your own Flower soft.  HERE is my picture tutorial on how to make Faux Flower soft- color of your choice. The background of the hearts is done using another technique called Triple dimension (a technique from 2/06). For the background I used Distress Inks. All of the images are from Rogue Redhead Designs Snow Hugs plate.
 I am a lover of Pinks, but I think this card is masculine enough to give to my husband.

Creative Belli Challenge #135- Frames-Make it Fancy

  The Creative Belli Challenge #135 for the next two weeks is Frames- make your image or sentiment 'dressed up' with a frame.

The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!  I decided to use a frame from the Delilah set from Lettering Delights using the  Make the Cut program on my Electronic cutting machine, which I had to dust off .....  and am happy to play with my cutting files- I am a beginner......   
The background DPS is by Memory Makers and I won it from Becca a couple of years ago.... The lace is from my stash and the rhinestone matched perfectly- are from my old and forgotten stash as well.
I wanted to share a quick TIP for cutting out your label:
When you cut out a label- this is a tip to conserve cardstock- especially when you are using beautiful cardstock that you only bought one sheet of...... : )

Measure your cardstock, and cut the label from the portion that will be hidden in the layer below.....

Creative Belli Challenge #134-Snowflakes

  The Creative Belli Challenge for the next two weeks, January 4th - 17th, 2012 is

 SNOWFLAKES!

(you must have at least 1 snowflake on your card) 

   My recent trip to Breckenridge encouraged this card....my son is a ski instructor there, and he wears this blue color snowsuit when he is teaching.  I have not used this Riley stamp in ages.....and I used some gingham ribbon and a snowflake charm that I had to dust off...... I colored the image with Copic Markers.

I used a Technique Junkies technique on my card called Chalked Emboss- so the background looks soft and then I highlighted the embossing for a 'pop'. I used a digi sentiment from Create with TLC- there is going to be a HUGE party at Create with TLC soon- the counter is just shy of 1500 followers on her blog......!!!  Wahoo!  I cannot wait!

This is about the only way I am seeing snowflakes this year .....West of Chicago- we have not had any snow to speak of this year at all...and the forecast for this weekend is in the 40's.......

Creative Belli Challenge #133-Merry Christmas

OUR NEW BELLI CHALLENGE

December 21st - January 3rd

Challenge #133 - Merry Christmas!

(you must have the word "Christmas" on your card)

 What is more special at Christmas time than Jesus in the manger???  I found this great digital image at Create with TLC.  I used a CAS design so the focus would be on the image. I used My Mind's Eye DSP from a 2009 stack.......but I love the blue shimmery paper to emulate the night sky. I hand wrote the sentiment, as I am away from home and have no access to any sentiments.....  I added paper piercing to the border of the image. The star is 'layered up'- which is a Technique Junkies technique.

The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!The DSP is  'old' and the gold ribbon under the sentiment is from a reel I purchased for last year's cards- and was not used.

Creative Belli Challenge #132- Anything Winter or Christmas

For the Creative Belli Challenge this week, the challenge is to use anything Winter or Christmas themed.  

  And since I am still in need of Christmas cards....I created one more!  I was inspired last year by a Belli team member, Darsi,  that designed for Fred She Said and she makes the most gorgeous cards!!!  I love the images and have quite a few of them sitting in a computer file...unused.....!
 The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments! 
  I am using the Christmas Rose pre-colored stamp set from Fred She Said on Cryogen White cardstock. I tried something new- to cut out the image- I used Spellbinders Labels 9 die and just cranked the end of the die into the Cuttlebug....on each end- I do not think I have ever used this die before...... The middle portion was cut freehand. I cut out black cardstock behind the Labels 9 shape and then added Fleur De Lis corners behind that.  The sentiment is also from FFS and I used some gold findings given to me by a friend and added pearls on top of them.

 I used a digi image and sentiment from McMahon Five Designs called Bountiful Harvest. I colored the image with Copics. I used an 'older' paper pad from KC&Co. for the background designer paper- I ran it through the cuttlebug twice and highlighted with Real Rust ink.  I recycled a flower from a card from a fellow TJ member and added rhinestones to the sentiment panel to mirror the flowers on the flower.

Challenge #130 Paper Piercing (poking holes in your paper)

I got out my Ranger supplies to make my card today- Inspired by Terry who is always talking about Grunge Monday- so I checked it out- All Things Tim challenge is to  use the Technique from Tag # 7 from 2009......  I had a few technical difficulties with a few of the products....but was able to complete the challenge.  I used the new Distress Ink for the background in Iced Spruce- I thought it would work perfectly with a winter scene. All of the stamps I used here are from Rogue Redhead- they are having an Anniversary celebration- got this in a bundle!
   After I did the technique, I used a punch from MS for the snowflakes - had to have it and I think it may be the first time I used it.....and the smaller one- I like it so much, I bought two of them...do you ever do that?.......  I took the negative of the punch and sponged through it for the snowflake shadow in the BG.  I used two Technique Junkies techniques for my card- Wisped frames and Stacked Nesties.  I added sparkle with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

Creative Belli Challenge #128 Use FLower Soft, Felt or Chunky Glitter

 For the bi-weekly Creative Belli Challenge I used Faux Flower Soft (My tutorial HERE).

Here is a close up of the Faux Flower soft and the shimmer:

  I used SU dye inks and sponged on the colors. I added some Copic color on the trees and the grass.  The backgrounds are Technique Junkies UFO's that I did not write on the back and identify- although I know the green was made with Twinkling H2O's.  The image is from McMahon Five Designs. I used the Sketch from Card Patterns.

Here is a tutorial I used for tying a little bow- on a fork. I simply wrapped the twine three times around the fork......

  I am trying to play along-as much as I can- with the Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge on Splitcoaststampers- I picked this image specifically for the theme of  Things are Looking Up- at a Sunset!

Belli Challenge #127 Paper Piecing

  For the Creative Belli Challenge we are challenged to make a card with paper piecing.

  For my card I used a digital image and sentiment both from Create with TLC. After I printed my image on cardstock, I printed it on copy paper. I cut scraps of old SU DSP for each piece I wanted to paper piece, attached them to the copy paper image with removable tape and ran it through the printer again.

This is how the images look when they come out of the printer.  I cut around the printed lines and adhere to the image-and finish my card.  I added some really really old rub-ons of a tree branch with a bird on it. For the sentiment, I cut out a Nestability, traced around the outside of the Nestie onto DSP and cut out a shadow, added sponging and added some rhinestones to enter the 365 challenge day 211- Triple it. I added some sponged clouds to the sky, and used Copics to make the grass. Then I used some really old blue thread and used a Feather stitch around the edge of my card.

Creative Belli Challenge #126-String

We are challenged to use 'String' for the Belli Challenge.  I used Baker's Twine.

  I used three strands of green Baker's Twine and Zig-Zag'ed over them for the flower stem.  The thread is a variegated green, so it is lighter and darker in spots.  The pre-colored digital image is from McMahon Five Designs. I did add some sparkle with Sakura Gelly pen around the tulip edges and on the swirls of the flowers. If you stopped by for the Vellum challenge last time, you will recognize the swirly vellum in the background of the flowers.

  I made a second card using a single flower as well.

 I highlighted the background embossing with peach, green and blue color. The DSP is SU.

HOW did I make that grass- I wanted to do a picture tutorial for this method.  I do not know how you could do this without a sewing machine, but I am sure there is a way!

 I used two colors of Bakers twine- a light and a dark green.  I measure to see how wide and tall I want my grassy area- no worries if it is too tall- you can always mow some off the top......  if it is too short- that is not so good. Cut out a piece of cardstock in the dimensions you want your grass.  I added a little piece of double sided tape to hold the beginning piece of twine- keep it at the top of the grassy area- never sew over tape.  Wrap the twine around the cardstock until it is fully covered.

 Next, sew a straight stitch across the bottom of the strip. Then Lay the strip on the card where you want it, and sew again over the same line.

 Next, cut at the top- I cut a little under the top so the top row is a little shorter than the back row. No worries, again, you can trim the twine if you need to. I put a piece of black thread over the twine so you can see where to cut.

  Here is the piece with the twine cut all of the way from side to side.

 Now, fold down the first row of twine and the cardstock that is in the center- the sewing perforated the cardstock, so just pull from one side or the other, and it will tear right out. (The piece of cardstock between the stitching and the edge will stay inside the twine).

   Fluff up the twine and see if you like the way it looks.  If you don't, just trim it with your scissors.

Creative Belli #125 Use Acetate or Vellum

 The Belli Challenge for the next two weeks is to use Acetate or Vellum.

  I made an ATC for the challenge. I used a digital image from McMahon Five Designs called Halloween Witch, and the sentiment is from Create with TLC.  The DSP is Heidi Grace and I have added a Zig Zag stitch around the outside edge of the ATC.  I colored the image with Copic markers and added Sakura Gelly Roll pen sparkly accents.
 Do you remember back when when SU sold that swirly vellum?  Am I dating myself?  I thought it would go along with the Halloween theme.

Creative Belli Challenge #124-Use Gingham

Happy Wednesday!  For the Creative Belli Challenge #124, we are to use  Gingham (stamped, patterned paper, or ribbon)

 
I used a digital image from the CDAC Progressive challenge #1 
drawn by Digistamps4joy.  The gingham scallop and the sentiment are by Create with TLC. The scallop comes in a group of three, and I cut off one of the scallops and added 1/2 of it to each side as a border for a little dimension then wrapped the center piece in twine. The image and sentiment are colored with Copic markers.

I added some older embellishment 'stickers dots' in red across the bottom of the card.

Creative Belli Challenge #123- Non-paper

 For the Creative Belli Challenge, we are to use - Non paper
                (material, burlap, silk, jeans, netting, etc) 

  I used an old SU set Botanicals and stamped the image in pigment ink and clear embossed it on wood paper .   I found a piece of bark from our birch tree in my front yard, and decided to add that under the leaves and over another piece of the wood paper.  Next is a layer of Olive cardstock. The bottom level is Confetti cardstock stamped with Ranger Inks plus a touch of Olive and Artichoke inks. I added a bow out of braided twine.

  The wood paper is real wood, and I stamped and embossed on it, I have sewn on it and it goes through my printer for printing digital images too.

Creative Belli 122- Christmas in July

The Creative Belli challenge is a Christmas inspiration challenge for the next two weeks. Our inspiration piece is this beautiful Christmas china that belongs to our design team member, Karen Wallace. Thank you Karen for providing us with such lovely inspiration to create our cards and projects.

The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!

I used the colors of the china as my inspiration and played around with more SVG files:

  Everything about this card- except the sentiment circles (digi image from McMahon Five Designs)- are SVG files that I cut out using my electronic cutting machine and the Make the Cut.  I imported an octogen shape and joined it to make it into a card (that folds). Then, I imported a scalloped octogen for my flower background. The flower SVG is from McMahon Five Designs and is available NOW as a FREE digital image AND as a FREE SVG file.  This flower works beautifully as a tropical flower OR as a Poinsettia, don't you think?
The Papers I used are: Incandescent  in Rosso and Candido and Mica in the gold. The Green paper is from my stash : )

Creative Belli 121- Make your own Embellishment(s)

 The Creative Belli Challenge for the next two weeks is to make your own 'embelli's'.
I had fun creating with no crafting supplies.... left them at home...whoops!  I had to be a bit creative- here is what I came up with:

 I could only find one store with Stamping/scrapbooking supplies, so I bought a few things.....

    I decided to lay out what was in my kit-my first time ever buying a kit. I love this Victorian lady- so I trimmed her into an oval and used ric rac and beads to outline her- see- you can live without your Nestabilities in a pinch....... Here is what I did:

  First, you need a needle with a small enough eye that the beads will fit over.  I used a single strand of  thread and pierced the edge of the ric rac in the back and came through to the front of the picture with it. Add the bead and then you want to put the needle back through the same hole to the back of your cardstock/image. Be careful not to pierce too closely to the edge so the needle will not rip the cardstock open to the edge in that spot.
  This is what it looks like finished:

 I did not need to go all of the way around the oval, as I am adding a flower in that area.

  Next, I am going to gather the ric rac and make a flower to fit in the center of the purple fabric flower. Just take a single thread again and gather the ric rac to the desired length.  Play around with gathering the ric rac and see what look you like best for your project.

 Once you have the desired number of peaks- tie the ends of your gathering thread - as you pull the threads to make a knot, the ric rac will gather into a flower.

pull the threads and you will end up with this:

 Finish off the edges of the ric rac and play around with the flower until it looks the way you would like it to- Viola.....add some beads to the centers of the flower to finish it off.

 I also made the flowers in the upper right- if I were at home, I would add stickles to the edges.

 I had a clear button in my suitcase, so I added a circle of the patterned paper from the kit to the back and used the purple thread to tie a know in it.

Creative Belli Challenge #120 - the letter G

   For the Creative Belli challenge- you have 2 weeks to create a new project that features an embellishment that begins with the letter G. Think about glitter, a gift card holder, a gift bag, Glimmer Mist, Old Glory (4th of July projects), green rhinestones, whatever you've got on hand.

"G" on the above card- Gate fold card, Glamorous Lady, Glitter, Green rhinestones and Green cardstock.  I used 'Sassy Hippo' a digital image by Fairydoodler available at McMahon Five Designs for my card. I colored her with Copic Markers and added Stardust Gelly Roll pen for shimmer. The DSP is Basic Grey. The Glitterstrip is a Technique Junkies Technique called Glitter Roll (I used Certainly Celery cardstock and white glitter) . I added green rhinestones for a bit more glitz. The rhinestones, glitter and ribbon are my forgotten embellishments.
 The sentiment is from Create with TLC.

Creative Belli #119 Branches

 For the  Creative Belli Challenge this week, the challenge is to use BRANCHES.

   Her are the rolled flowers I made out of the DSP- I added stickles to the tips for some shimmer:

  My Stamp is by Artistic Outpost and the stamp set is called Bluebird. The DSP is Stella Rose. I used a Technique Junkies technique called Vintage Art. I distressed the edge and added more Distress ink to accent the edge.  Border accent is MS punch and pearls colored with Copic Y23. I added some color highlights with Copics in Blues and browns.

  Pull out your stamps of branches and ink them up, paint your chipboard branches, cut a small branch off a tree in your yard, or cut out some branches from designer papers, whatever tickles your fancy. Have fun adding "branches" to your project!
