AOSA Sketch

I do a monthly sketch challenge for the About Oriental Stamp Art (AOSA) Yahoo group.


 For the August Sketch, I found this crane themed DP and went with it....  I used a retired Michael Strong stamp and the sentiment from a MFP set.

This was for September. I found this stamp at a garage sale : )  I love it and did not have a dragon stamp.  The DP is Bird Song and I hoard it : )  LOL

Crayon Resist

I had a moment to create this week, and took the opportunity o make a swap for the AOSA (About Oriental Art) Yahoo group- theme- dragonflies. This is a type of crayon resist.

And, I made a full sized card using the same technique:

 The SCS had a Try a New Technique challenge on Monday.  I have done a variation of this technique, but this one was much easier.....  I took white cardstock, placed it on an embossing folder with the impression part of the folder up. I ran a crayon over that and then rubbed/brayered on color.
You get a better impression on the card vs the ATC of what the embossing folder design is.
 The dragonflu is by Michael Strong, the sentiment MFP.

CYS-Washi

 I am late, but wanted to get this card completed! The SCS Challenge Your Stash group posts on the 28th of each month.  This month, Terri challenged us to use Washi.

Oriental- Pink + Black

 I joined in a Mingle at the Yahoo Group- Oriental Stamp Art to make a Pink + Black card. Right up my Alley.....  I love pink.

 I used DP by Prima and a die cut from the Oriental Crane die in Black- the die is by Tattered Lace. The Kanji is from a MFP background stamp. The sponged center square is covered with Versamark and clear embossed.

Shaved Blessings

The Stamp Addicts Blogging group at SCS has a challenge (it was actually for June) to make a card using the shaving creme technique.

 I apparently added too much reinker- OR the Distress reinkers are very colorful compared the regular ones..... (I used Ranger Barn Red and Lemonade ).
 I used the Sketch Challenge at Mark's Finest Papers- and it has a twist- make a card for a friend- yep- sending this in the mail tomorrow!
 The image was colored with Copics, and I stamped the image twice and cut out the top layer so the flower would have some dimension, then I also distressed the edge of the Tangerine cardstock.

A Sketch and a Request for Help

  I saw a request for Help this AM on Nana Connies blog and decided to whip up a quick card- well, I should be cleaning, but I HATE to clean....hehehe
  I made a card for Edith and used the sketch challenge at Mark's Finest Papers.

 The Washi is from China- I bought it a couple of years ago in Shenghen- much cheaper there, but the Shipping and handling was alot (hehehe aka my plane ticket and hotels....) . The Gold cardstock is from Marco's Papers. The CS is Tangerine from SU. The images are from Mark's Finest Papers.

Hello, dear blogging friends.

One of our blogging-paper-crafting-friends, Sue Drees, recently shared some sad news.

Her sister, Edith, fell on June 22, and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. On June 25, the tumor was successfully removed. However, the biopsy brought back devastating news - a fast growing Brain Cancer. Sue's sister is determined to fight this all the way. She began physical rehabilitation on July 4.

Sue and Edith both live in the North East (USA). Sue and her husband transport Edith's husband to the hospital each day and check up on changes and quality of care.

While Sue did not ask for help, others kept in touch with her and asked if Edith would enjoy receiving cards of encouragement and support.

Sue was so grateful that the on-line community might help in this way - it was something she had not considered.

Edith enjoys quilting and LOVES flowers! Edith's beloved fur baby is a little pug and they miss each other very much.

Will you please consider sending a note, tag, or card (or two or three?) offering encouragement? Edith valiantly fights other illnesses in addition to this new challenge. She is a very courageous soul.

Cards can be sent addressed to Edith c/o Sue Drees and she will take them daily to the hospital.

Year of the Horse Vase

I decided to make an Asian themed card for a challenge to make a Flower Pot at MFP:

 Since it is the Year of the Horse in China, I made a vase with a circle punch and added the top of the SU ornament punch. I highlighted the vase with a white paint pen- and that is a challenge this month at the Oriental Stamp Art (aka OSA) Yahoo Group. I colored the flowers with Copics and added Sakura Gelly roll pen for shimmer in the centers of the flowers. The background Kraft cardstock also has Kanji stamped onto it.

Over the Hill.........

 We are heading to a 60th Birthday party today, and I wanted to share a card I made for my BIL. I saw the Inspirational Challenge at MFP, and thought it would be a great jump start for my card.

 I made the card 4 x 8 1/2, which fits into a business sizes envelope. My BIL is quite the gardener, so I added the flower accents from the set as well. That is a little strip of Gold Washi in the center. I added shimmer on the cake with the Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

 I added three flowers- one for past, present and future. 

 I am back up on the computer- my husband has loaded all of my programs and I will be catching up on commenting this coming week : )

 I have made a card using the Faux Metal Gelato's technique:

 I took the picture at a little bit of an angle so you could see the glimmer from the Gelato's and from the Sakura Gelly Roll pen on the cake.  All images from TJ Sponsor Mark's Finest Papers.

Next, I used the Whitewash Chic technique:

 

 I colored the flowers with Prismacolor pencils- I did not do any blending at all. The butterflies are colored with Copic markers, as are the Rhinestones I added. I added shimmer with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen on the butterflies. All images are from Technique Junkies/formerly Stamp Camp.

CAS Masked Borders

I made a couple more cards to send to my elderly Aunt- they have to be CAS for her for mailing purposes....I saw a tutorial over at Mark's Finest Papers for Masked Borders and thought I would give it a go.

 ALl images are by MFP. The top card was colored using Prismacolor pencils and I added shimmer with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen. The 2nd card- I colored with Copics.

Flip card

The Tutorial Time challenge at MFP for (last) Friday  is something I wanted to try. The tutorial is to make a Flip card using a metal die.  I am not sure if I have tried this before or not- but it is easier than it looked and I used a die I have not used in AGES! : )

I used a butterfly on the front panel that I stamped and colored with SU markers and Copic yellow.  There is a 2nd butterfly popped up for dimension.

  The DP is SU.

Here is the inside- I used a MFP inage and colored onto the stamp, misted it with water and stamped on the panel, then added the sentiment. I think I'll be doing this again!

ATC's- Lots of them!!!

 I am a little behind in posting my ATC Swaps- I am in a monthly swap locally, and have joined in a Technique Junkies Swap as well.
 
 The local swap theme- Stencils

 This is an ATC I made for both f the swaps- I used this one for my 1-4-1 swap since it was right around Easter. This technique is called Stencil with a Twist. Image is Impression Obsession and the background stamp is Starving Artistamps. I cut a stencil for my background with an SVG from Bird's Cards- which she generously offers for free- love her beautiful files- on my new Silhouette Cameo! This is a mini version of a card I made for TJ newsletter.

 Here are the rest of my trades:

 These three Geisha ladies are all one (background) stamp by Technique Junkies. The background is Wendy Vechi Gold embossing Paste over a bright Delusions background.

 This single Geisha by Mark's Finest Papers. Same Technique as above.

 The next three are the same technique as above- the theatre images are from (now closed) Firecracker Designs by Pamela. The Owl is a pre-colored image from DeeDee digi's, and the rooster  and sentiment are by .SmARTworks (now closed).

  This is my 1-4-1 trade- this is by Diane M and the butterfly is made from duct tape. She made the background using a Gelli Plate.

Ir-Resistable fun with an older technique

 I needed to make cards for a swap today, so looked at challenges, so decided to play with a challenge from MFP and made Wax Paper Resist cards.

 This is plain old Wax Paper resist- so I had to try something fun- I cut an oval die out of the center of the Wax Paper and left that part white. When I cut the oval, I made a template with a plain white cardstock, so I could place it over the the oval when I added the color.

 So, for my Swap cards, I used the wax paper in an embossing folder and so the Wax Paper resist has a pattern:

  The horse was stamped on a textured CS, so I just cut around the outside. The word for horse in Chinese is 'ma' and there are 4 different tones in Chinese- so- in the other tones it also means mother, hemp, or scold..... That is why Chinese is so hard to speak! Horse is a third tone......

Washi Herringbone

Here is a pretty background technique for a card using- Washi tape.

 This was made for the Feb/March Technique Junkies Newsletter and it was fun to actually use some of my Washi Tape up!  I love this beautiful butterfly and the sentiment is perfect my my daughter(s), I call them both Beautiful (or Petunia- hahaha) and the Kanji is perfect for Katie! The stamps are by Mark's Finest Papers.

 Still a bit under the weather- I am OK as long as I do not eat anything......  Jello and tea are OK.....

Masked and Quartered

 OK- bet you read that title thinking- what the heck is she up to???  Well, surprise- it is a Technique Junkies technique from the Feb/March newsletter!

 I stamped on Soft Suede and colored the image with Twinkling H2O's. Ohhhhhhh- I do not get these out enough!  The image, black Kanji text and sentiment are from Marks Finest Papers. The BG stamp in white is from Technique Junkies.

 I am recovering with a bout of the flu this week- my husband had it first and since we share almost everything.......  (Well, he stays out of my craft room, and just about everything in the garage- is his ).

Washi fun- MFP Swap

 I joined in a swap in Feb. with Mark's Finest Paper with an Oriental theme. I made a card with a technique from the Technique Junkies called Washi Herringbone technique.

 I colored the image with Copics and cut it out with a slender white border.
