Lazy Days of Summer

 I have challenged myself to try to make more CAS cards.  So, I saw this challenge at Guylou's Inimitability to make a card using CAS and Kraft.  Here is what I came up with:

  I printed the image on Cryogen White cardstock, colored it with Copic Markers and used an 'Out of the Box' technique for cutting it out with a nestability. I added a UFO TJ background strip that is shimmery green and turquoise- thought that resembled water......I ran it thru the Big Shot with a swirly pattern.
  I added some brown highlights to the Kraft to look like sand. The clouds are Memory Box dies and I have a pile of them sitting on my desk. 
 The sentiment is from Create with TLC- I cut it apart so it would fit across the bottom.

Bloggers Challenge- Red/White/Blue

Happy July 2nd! We are spending the weekend in Keystone Colorado with our son- he is doing an Internship out here. He will be in the parade Monday- and that got me in a celebrating mood....this image reminded me of the 'old days when we would dress the kids up in R/W/B and go to the Parade!
(I have two daughter's also.......LOL).



I have been enjoying using Digital images, and have recently discovered the Paper Temptress Cryogen White card stock for coloring with Copics. It takes the ink in a way I cannot even describe! Well, I have learned that it takes sponging well too! I printed this cute image from Guylou's Inimitability on Cryogen White. I paper piecing the dress and colored the skin and the sparkler with Copics. I added Sparkle with the Stardust Gelly Roll pen. Well, I wanted to add a bit more sparkle, so I punched the edge of a piece of  Paper Temptress Sparkle cardstock in 'Abysse' and added a couple of punched stars as well.



I added some stripes to go with my stars! I LOVE the way this card stock added elegance to a card with the columns. This close-up shows the stripes and the sparkle in the blue 'Sparkle' cardstock, as well as in the Cryogen White Cardstock. Sentiment Create with TLC.

Guylou Inimitability-Monochromatic

  I played along in a challenge at Guylou's Inimitability last month and WON!  As a winner, I was invited to be a guest designer for the challenge: Monochromatic.

 From Guylou: What does the word "Monochromic" means, you ask? Well, Monochromic's definition is "having or appearing to have only one color".     Here is the card I created:

   I used a digi called 'Louise Moving In' that I won in the Khaki challenge.  With my twins graduating college, plenty of their friends are beginning their new lives all over the USA- so a perfect image to make cards for their friends.  I printed the image on Neenah cardstock and used lots of "E" Copics to color in the image.  I 'Double bugged' the background cardstock and used Copic texturizing on the bear, Louise's pants and the shirt on the Left-both techniques from the Technique Junkies.  All cardstock and DSP is SU.  The sentiment is Create with TLC.

  Guylou is the host of this challenge, and feels that while Monochromatic cards are not the easiest to do, the results are stunning.  Click HERE to see the DT samples- Guylou is right- the DT work is stunning!

For my card, I have a Cuttlebug folder that embosses and cuts holes too- I highlighted the embossing with Fairy Dust Creative Inspirations Paint to add shimmer. I used Labels 4 Nestie for the black accent around the picture and I have to say, I never have given any thought to using the plastic from packages for a shaker card (I always use acetate), but it worked just great with the die cut too.  Image was colored with Copic Markers.  I highlighted her crown and dress with Stardust Jelly pen for even more shimmer.

CAS card for Brian and a Hoppy Frog for Rachel

Guylou's Inimitability Color Challenge

 My 4 yr old nephew Brian was recently diagnosed with Wilm's tumor of the kidney. He had his kidney removed, had a round of radiation and is now on weekly Chemo. I received this image from Guylou's Inimitability for the Spot and Dots challenge and it is perfect for a card for a little guy.....Brian is doing OK with the Chemo- he only likes nurses in Pink shirts though.......I hope he likes this doctor with the Teddy Bear!  The image was colored with Copic markers and I used a Technique Junkies tutorial called Copic Texturizing on the bear. 
  I made a second card to donate to a Chemo center- for patients to use for Project Give Thanks. (Michelle Zindorf's sister has info on her blog HERE).

Well, I decided I could not send a card to Brian and not send one to his sister Rachel- so I used the progressive freebie from Designed2Delight.

I tried the Copic Texturizing again and ended up coming up with the pop up Frog due to a little mishap.....

 And, of course, I had spent all of this time coloring, cutting and layering....so decided I was not going to throw this card away.........so, I cut a little piece of cardstock and fan folded it and attached it to the back of another colored frog......

Sorry that turned out a touch blurry- but you can see what I mean......

  I think I can live with it and Rachel will be delighted!  The card was colored with Copics and the Sky was sponged with Blue Bliss and a template using the scallop oval punch from SU. I added Starburst Jelly Pen to add glitz on the butterflies and the centers of the flowers.
