Forest Magic

Our flight to Florida is delayed, so I took the opportunity to make a card for the SCS Thursday challenge- Black Magic.

I thought I'd try something different than flowers for the technique. The images were stamped and dried.  I added the snow by swiping the White Pigment ink cube onto the cardstock.  Dried that as well, then colored over all of it with Pencils, added white paint pen in the trees and Stardust Gelly Roll over the snow for shimmer.

Fa La La La La......

I whipped up a quick card for the Sketch challenge and teh Alphapret "F" challenge at Splitcoast.

This fun stamp set by Simon Hurley just arrived at my home, and I am heading out for a week tomorrow, so whipped up a quick card- as much as the inks would behave...!  This reminds me of a fun movie that starts off the Christmas season each year!
Images were colored with the Zig watercolor pens and the main panel with Copics. I used brushes to add color to the background- Distress inks.
 I so love that pup : )

CYS- Fall Colors

October - Vickie - Vickie Y CYSOCT
~~use autumn colors to create an autumn/fall card/project:
I combined this challenge with the Splitcoast Technique challenge and came up with this card:

I have had this die for a couple of years and I think I have not used it on a card- that I can remember.  I cut a piece of cardstock with a napkin over it and did my best to adhere it to cardstock, then added layers of color using distress inks.  The sentiment is Graciellie Designs.
I used Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks on the background for color.

I love this look- try this if you can- you can watercolor on the napkin die cut with any ink spritzed with water- SU inks, reinkers, distress inks.....  This look is pretty cool don't you think???

HERE is the link to the CYS gallery for October over at Splitcoaststampers.  Last years cards will also show up!
We are using up our unused supplies!!!

You can find us at Splitcoaststampers.com , forums, Swaps, cards, closed- Challenge your Stash.
It says closed swap, but Barb is happy to have new members!

Floral Garden

I found a quilling kit for cardmaking at Tuesday Morning, and decided to get it out right away and make a card for the Teapot Tuesday challenge at Splitcoast.

There is no stamping on this card at all.  The butterflies, the DP and the sentiment were all in the kit. I die cut a soft green cardstock using a Cheery Lynn designs edge die.
I had to use You Tube to figure out how to put the flowers together.  I added ink to the ends of the petals and also enamel dots in the centers of the flowers. I added rhinestones and called it a day.

I'm Home!!!

I did not take any stamping supplies with me while away, so once I could sneak away, I did!  I checked into the SCS challenges for today and had fun!

The Splitcoast CAS challenge today was Get Well.  I have this sweet image that I stamped in the Netherlands with my friend Hetty. (Thanks Hetty).  I used a Gina Marie die and Copic Markers.

The Technique Lovers challenge was stamping on dark cardstock.  This card looks much prettier IRL, hard to photograph with all of the shimmer.....

I made a mask for the bottom, placed the top part of it over the card, stamped Versamark on the Not Quite Navy card, then added Stardust EP.  It took on the color of the card under it.
The tree in one image.  It was stamped in white Pigment Ink, then heat set and then Distress inks were colored onto the image with Distress markers. There is a subtle text in the trees. I varied the height.  The star and the snowflakes are from Stampendous.  I added Prismacolor pencil over the star and over the snowflake image to the larger flake.  I added white dots, then silver Stickles to the centers of the larger snowflake.  I decided to add clear Stickles to the star.
The sentiment goes with the tree set- i just heat embossed that with White EP.

Although most people are choosing Christmas inspiration, I made a Fall/Halloween themed card.  I have this fun Great Impressions image that needed to be inked up!  I colored it with Copics. The die is a Memory Box stitched die. The sentiment is Sunny Studios.

Bugaboo- Bingo challenge

We are playing B-I-N-G-O at Bugaboo this week!

I used the image Autumn Leaves Girl on my card, using 3 layers, Orange and ribbon.

I used Die Cut and Distress. The image is inlaid into the frame- one layer : )  I used a portion of a Gina Marie die for the image and inlay.  I colored the image with Copics and used a touch of Distress Inks- using Distress markers.
I added twine over the ribbon looks better IRL... the ribbon was white and I colored it with Copic marker E07. The sentiment is a rubber stamp- not sure of the company (I did not make note of it and I am out of town).

We are Dueling- as it is the 15th of the month!!!  The hostesses for this month are Tracie for the Dazzlers and Barb for the Divas.  We are celebrating Fall!

Tracie sent us a fun kit with this adorable image from Newtons Nook. I colored it with Copics.  It is layered over a scrap of paper that has Pumpkin Pie ink  that was stamped onto the non-stick pad and spritzed.  I did dry the paper between layers of ink.

Stamped on White Neenah Class Crest Solar White CS using Memento Tuxedo Black ink
DP - Autumn Spendor from Simple Stories
Twine, flower (Prima) , button and Washi from her stash. The washi was used to close her ribbon, but I loved it and added it here!

Off they go

We had a fun weekend in Kenwood (Sonoma) California for a wedding.  We have watched this young one grow up from about age 3!!!  She met her husband in Cape Town Africa- he is from Australia.

This fun image is by Great Impressions- and perfect for the bride, who loves her cat!!!  The DP was from a magazine and was a perfect fit IMO.  I colored with Copics, and decided to make it CAS.

I will make blogging rounds when were arrive at our destination and settle in- heading to see my son and DIL, and Grandson : )

Bugaboo- Humor Me Wednesday

Fir the Bugaboo Humor Me Wednesday post, I am celebrating Emergency Nurses Day which is October 9th, with the help of Stella : )

LOL, Some medicines do burn a touch : )  But, look at the size of that syringe and needle!

Stella was die cut out using a double stitched boarder, then colored with Copics.  When I worked in the ER and ICU, we wore this color of scrubs- Ciel Blue.  This DP is Echo Park and the cardstock is Ballet Blue.

I used the Sketch Saturday Sketch for my jump start, and added a few sequins to balence out the card.

Fly Away

I had a few quick minutes to create a card- played along with the Color Challenge at Splitcoast and combined it with the Tea Pot challenge.

I made an emboss resist card using a Michael Strong image.  I used Distress inks as I do not have the colors suggested on the SCS site (for the color challenge) . The yellow cardstock is Daffodil and I used a few little blue strips in the corners for accent color.
The Tea Pot challenge sends cards to people in need. The challenge asks for us to used a technique from DTGD( Emboss resist), and wants us to try to use a Silhouette as well.  I added a silhouette butterfly, then decided to add a piece of vellum over the top of it. A piece of twine finished off the card.

I made a card for a special lady today.  This was inspired by the Featured Stamper over at Splitcoaststampers.

I stamped this background in 5 different colors of Distress Inks!  The last 2 were slightly offset in Honey and Spiced Marmalade to add a touch of Fall color to the background.
The image is Unity, fussy cut and colored with Copic markers. A touch of Washi and a thin Holigraphic washi to finish off the card.

Take me out to the Ballgame

Another fun baseball card for my husband!

My husband Ray plays in an over 53 league, and says the most athletic player is usually at Shortstop.  The best runners are in the outfield.  My husband is FAST and plays in the outfield.  He quit diving for balls a few years ago when he broke a couple of ribs..... that was really painful!

This is Happy Hopper Great Catch stamp by Stampendous.  Coloring is done with Copic Markers, and the DP I used is G45.
The Free For ALl challenge at Splictoast stampers is to stamp using something you love (Watching hubby play baseball).  The Ways to Use it challenge asks for us to use Wire, so I added the metal finding with ribbon added to it.

ABC at SCS

For the Alphabet Challenge at Splitcoast (SCS), we are on the letter J this week.  I made a card J=Jesus

I stamped this image on 35# Vellum, embosed it with Queen's Gold EP and colored with Copics on the reverse side of the vellum. As it is symmetrical, I stamped it on the back of the Gold, and fussy cut out the frame in the shape of the stamp. Next, I embossed the gold piece, and then adhered the vellum and white piece underneath it. I cut and embossed a star using a Joy Craft die. Finally, I added a Ballet Blue base (retired SU).   The shimmery gold cardstock is from Paper Temptress.

Oh Hummingbird!

A color challenge was posted at Splitcoast today, I do not have any of the colors, so had to substitute.....  This is my make:

I used Calypso Coral, Regal Rose and Certainly Celery Su inks.  I used mixed Media cardstock for this fun project.  I smooshed the ink on my craft mat- first Coral - spritzed then added to cardstock.  I dried the card, then repeated with the Rose ink.  Circle punches in 1", 1/2" and 1/4" were sponged in the Celery, then White Pigment ink by Gina K.  I stamped the flower in Rose, then added a fussy cut flower from a seperate piece of technique card. I added a spritz of water and used a paintbrush to mute the lines a touch just on the fussy cut flower image.
The die cut by Gina Marie was cut twice from card, and from the negative- sponged the green onto the card base, then applied the white hummingbird.  I covered the hunmmer with Wink of Stella.
The 'dessert' was woodgrain, so added a touch of that in the corner.

I do not think I have Fall in my heart yet!!!  I have hummingbirds out of my window- they will be migrating soon!!!

I thought this bird was playing dead, because the other is very territorial, but apparently, before migration, they drink LOTS of nectar and go into a deep sleep.......

This is normal, watching to make sure no one but me drinks of the nectar the Schmidts provide, except me!!!  LOL
