CYS- Use your Oldest Floral Image

For the Challenge Your Stash Group at Splitcoaststampers, Joyce (SCS ashjoy) is the Hostess for this month, and this is our challenge:
~~ Make a card using a floral stamp that has never been used before.  For a bonus, please send it to someone to show you are thinking of them!

This image is by Rubber Stampede. I have never used it!  It is stamped on watercolor cardstock. The image was colored using Zig waterbrushes in greens, the Blue is SU Blue Bliss, and the flowers are SU Barely Banana and Apricot. A touch of Pumpkin Pie SU for the butterfly.  I added Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen over the butterfly, then added it to the outline of the sentiment panel (Inside and out) and around the outer edge.  The sentiment is by CC Designs.
My Co- teachers for Religious Ed is fighting a health battle currently, so this will be mailed out to her.

CYS August- stencils

Our Hostess for CYS (Challenge Your Stash), a monthly challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com,  is Kelly.  She challenged us to use stencils.  Oh, I have a few of those (large drawer full).....LOL

I made a background using distress inks, then added flicks of water to watermark. Next, I spritzed the stencil, and laid it on top of the background, then lifted it up, and a watermark of the stencil is on the background.
When I first had a Scan N Cut, I cut out oddles and oddles of images, which reside in a baggie.....  I am doing some sorting today and came across the baggie and took out this vase (which I cut about 10 of) and colored it up and added it to the card.  I used the Splitcoaststampers Sketch challenge for the card as well.

You can find us at Splitcoaststampers.com/forums/swaps/cards/closed/Challenge Your Stash.  Even though the challenge is in a 'Closed' area, it IS open for new members.  We are using supplies in our stash that are 'unused' for a while!!!

CYS- Yellow and sunshine

Our CYS (aka Challenge Your Stash) group (at Splitcoaststampers.com)  has a challenge of Yellow and Sunshine!

I have finally taken my Distress Ink Cubes out of their packaging (while I was on vacation), and I so love them!  I can ink a stamp with them, make backgrounds and watercolor with them- even mixing the colors if I do not have the correct color.  And, they are so easy to transport!
I stamped up a Llama stamp the floral image from the same set from Unity stamps using Black Memento Tuxedo. I added color using my ink blending tool on the llama and watercxolored using the distress inks for the flowers. I made the clouds freehand...the sun diecut was gifted to me, so I do not know where it is from.
The background was stamed in black with a third image from the same set in black.  Then, I sprinkled water over the background and dried with a paper towel.  The llama and flowers was latered on the top.
The sentiment is from the same set.

Challenges- TBA

CYS- orange and a button

For the CYS- or Challenge Your Stash challenge, we have the following prompt from April Hostess Jennifer: aka Jennifrann
~~use two of my favorite things this month--orange and buttons.

I really loved this challenge.  I have an almost empty DP pack from MME called Tangeringe- it was $3.99 when I bought it- yep- a few years ago......  But I so love it! The background is Groovy Guava cardstock (retired SU). I used a retired SU set called Flowershop, which I also have the punch for.  (and have not used in ages.....).  The button and twine are from my stash.  The sentiment is Hero Arts.

The image looks so bright on my computer-TCV screen (still having computer issues), and looks more subtle on my blog....hope my images do not look so bright on my blog when you view it!!!).  I bought a new computer, but having to set it up- and photo watermark and editing- need a new program- my old one requires 32 bits and my computer is 64.......  If my hubby was not computer savy, my computer would be in the backyard and I would quit all of this....LOL

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of ' pile....... HERE is a link to all of the April Cards at Splitcoaststampers for this challenge.

CYS- Use three DP's

Each month on the 28th, I participate in a group challenge at Splitcoaststampers called Challenge Your Stash (aka, use your stash!!!)

I used an ATC and added it to my card. The ATC is a Unity stamp called Cold Outside. I paper Pieced the top and the scarf using Basic Grey DP, and added SU DSP on the background and the upper and lower layer (with polkadots).  The sequins are Unity.  There is stenciling on the background of the ATC using distress inks.

And, this is going to be a darn cold week in the Midwest.  I am hoping for a nice week of stamping!  We'll see.....!

CYS- and Stella Says Sketch

It's a two-fer today!  I am posting a Halloween card for CYS (Challenge Your Stash), and I made a card for the Bugaboo Stella Says Sketch challenge using my Halloween image and (long) cherished DP!

I have a stack of Fall DP that I never ever use, well...it collects dust...lol.  I flipped through it and was surprised it had some cute and fun Halloween DP in it.
The Bugaboo Halloween Brat Witch image is colored with Copics then fussy cut out. I found coordinating DP in the stack, and it took me forever to find the right combo if papers and colors I liked, but there you go- fun and whimsical. I used a sentiment from the base DP for the sketch element.

CYS-Challenge Your Stash- Color challenge

For the July CYS group, we are challenged by Barbara (Bejoyce at SCS) to use any previous color challenge from SCS weekly challenges.

I used SCS Color Challenge #431 Midnight Muse (I used Navy), Rich Razzleberry and Gumball Green.
On my sidebar, there is a link to colors that coordinate with Copics, ets....and I referred to the list and found , for Copics, Navy = B95 &97, Razzleberry = RV63 & 66, and Gumball Green YG63 & 67.
I stamped the image from Technique Junkies (SD867) in Black Nuvo Hybrid ink. I colored carefully- the leaves first, then the birds using the Copics. I added some outline accents in C2.
I added twine and the sequins and called the card done!

My youngest has 3 Bachelors degrees- one in Chemistry.  I love buying sets with beakers, etc...but she always tells me there is something wrong with the equation, or the sentiments etc. (And, I know as a nurse how irritating it is when someone gets something wrong- like on a TV show....)  Well, there you go- this set speaks of atoms and I do not know how anything can be wrong with it : )  Wahoo!

CYS- Elephant or Flamingo

Its the 28th, so that means digging through my 'STASH' and creating with older and neglected items in my crafting room. Whoops, looks like I am a day early.....

I have no clue where I got this stamp set- it is in my envelope of clear stamps that I got rid of all of the outer packaging in an attempt to create storage that was less bulky. I should have made notes on them with stickers.....  Anyway, I used an edge die (not marked with where I got this either), cut off the edge so the layers stay connected and made a one layer card. On the bottom layer, the outer dots were embossed, but not popped out.
I stamped the image using Nuvo Hybrid ink and colored the image using Prismacolor pencils. I have not gotten them out for ages!
This is for my mother- she will be 89 in a couple of weeks : )

CYS- Mouse

It is the 28th, and that is the day we post our Challenge Your Stash (CYS) Challenge cards. Pansy (aka C-mouse at Splitcoaststampers.com) challenged us to use a mouse on our cards.

I really LOVE House Mouse images and have a small collection- which I should use much more often : )  This cutie pie is called Sleeping with Strawberries and is by Stampabilities. The sentiment is by Unity Stamps.
I stamped the image onto Cryogen White cardstock- which has a touch of sparkle to it, and colored it with Copic markers. I cut the image out with a MFT die, and moved the die up and ran it through the Big Shot again, cutting off approximately 1/2-3/4" or so off the bottom.
The green DP is from Jillibean Soup from 2011 and the pink is Basic Grey from who knows when. I added the flower which I colored with a Copic marker to match more closely and embellished it with an enamel dot.

CYS- What I love.......

The March challenge for the CYS group, given to us by Heather is to "Create something with YOU in Mind".  And, since we are creating using our stash...I decided to CASE a card fun fold from another group I am in.

 I made a U-fold/Bridge card : )
I created using a very old Penny Black Stamp, some DP from when Pool Party was an in-color and a couple of die sets that have been used maybe once from My Favorite Things.

A place to write a message- this is the view from the back : )  I used DSP (SU), and glitter Washi Tape and a shimmery white card colored with pink copic marker for the balloons, and glittery washi for the strings.

This is looking down into the card from the front:

I rec'd the directions and a kit for this card from Betty aka Betty Murphy at SCS- here is her kit:

and looking down inside from the front:
:
My go to thing I LOVE to do is to try a new Technique of fun fold that I have not tried before.  I like to try alot of different things : )   This is so fun and quick that for sure ai will be making this again!  Maybe I can figure out the measurements and make an ATC like this- that would really be fun!

CYS-Hearts

Hi crafty friends!  It's time for the February CYS- Challenge Your Stash challenge group over at Splitcoaststampers.  Tracie – aka taclary- challenged us to use Hearts anyway on our cards.

How fun is this sweet set from Gina K?  I just love this!  LOL  I stamped these images with Tuxedo Memento Black ink. I cut them out with the Scan N Cut. I colored with Copics. The Glimmer is added with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glimmer pen.
I used a heart stamp to make the background with Versamark- we used to call this watermarking.  I used a retired SU cardstock Blush Blossom for the base.

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! CYS Dec- New Years-no alcohol

For our December Challenge Your Stash (CYS), Maggie challenged us to make a New Year card using no alcohol, as not everyone partakes.

I made a card and gift jar set for the ESSE adult day care my mom attends for their New Years party. The sweet Country Snowman is from Sweet n Sassy Stamps (digi), and the sentiment is from Verve. I used a TH embossing folder, some silver sparkly wrapping paper and Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The sentiment is from Verve.

Here is the jar that holds the hot chocolate mixture:

The project goals for the clients is to make assemble as easy as possible, so I made a kit and have everything ready to roll.  The jar will be filled with hot chocolate and little marshmallows. Mom helped me out by coloring this sweet Country snowman.  I used the Scan n Cut to quickly cut out 20 large and 20 small snowmen.

And there you have it!  Thanks for a great challenge Maggie!

CYS- Gift Holder

For our monthly Challenge Your Stash aka CYS post, Vicki challenged us to make a gift holder.

I bought a few fun templates from the Silhouette store, then came across THIS fun idea from Jennifer McGuire's Blog. It is different from anything I have seen or tried, so had to give it a go!
I used a digi stamp from Sweet n Sassy-Cocoa : )

How fun is that.....!   It is easy and quick to put together.  Find OLD as dirt DP...yep!  Use it on the bottom of the card.
Next, die cut an opening in the top of the card- I do not have the dies used in the above tutorial, so used one I did have.....

Before you cut, make sure your die is where you want it. Place the edge of the cutting plate where you want the cut to end.....  there you go!

Here is the fun peek a boo window after the die cut.  I scored the line at the base of the die cut.

Add some double sided tape to the back of the cardstock- make sure gift card has tape fairly close to keep it from flopping all over : )

Although these pictures are mine, the idea came from the tutorial posted above : )

Challenge Your Stash-Christmas in July

Our Hostess for July is Carol, and she challenged us to make a Christmas card OR Project.  OK, well, as I am sorting out my craft room, I pulled out this stamp and it is in the sell box.... I decided to get it out and USE it!

This ornament is 2 sided.... I had to stamp the image 10 times....I did not stamp the entire image as I got into the smaller areas.  I fussy cut 8 of the layers.... : )  The image is made by Holly Berry House.

I started with the back layer- covered it with Barn Door Distress Ink. On the edges, I outlined the edge and added Poppy Jasper glitter by PKGlitz.com. And, I am very sparkly : )

I painted Iridescent Medium on the top of the next layer. Next, I added glue and Oyster Art Institute Glitter. The next layer is the one with the hearts- I added glue to the hearts and Poppy glitter. The top layer has Iridescent Medium, and a decorative brad from Spare Parts/Paper Studio.

I repeated this for the other side- and did I mention, there is a layer of dimensionals between each layer. Once both layers are complete, add dimensionals to the center of one of the backs, and a layer of glue all around the outside edges. Place the ribbon down flat after folding down in half and use Sticky glue dots multiple times- where the ribbon meets the paper, in between ribbon layers and on the other side too. Tie a bow and I put a sticky dot to the back of the bow and attach it to the ornament.

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of' pile.......

CYS- Recipe Time

I have joined a group on Splitcoast where we are Challenged to 'Use our Stash'. Additionally, each month we have a theme- this month is a recipe- use green, use three of something and make a sympathy card.  Such a challenge gets you looking in your stash for some ideas- I had a hard time making a decision, so made 2 cards again this month......

I cannot remember the last time I used a background image like this with embossing powder!!!  This is called Victorian Lace (Stampin Up) and I bought it around 2001.  It is stamped onto vellum using Versamark and embossed using Fantasy Ivory EP from Sweet Stamps (this EP has a gold glitter in it).  The sentiment is Sweet Stamps. I also used retired cardstock Sage Shadow. I added three pearls, then decided it needed one more to the Lt of the sentiment.

Well, this fits the recipe too....  I stamped and embossed onto vellum with white EP. The Lilly stamp is by Michael Strong.  I old school colored on the back of the vellum using my SU markers and retired SU cardstock (pretty sure it is Lavender Lace). The green is Garden Green SU cardstock, that is dry embossed. Wink of Stella was used in the centers of the flowers for a little sparkle. I added pearls in groups of three's to finish the recipe.

This was my month to come up with a challenge.  My Dad died last year in March- one week shy of his 88th Birthday, so Sympathy card was a perfect theme, He was 100% Irish- so Green was the perfect color. Three of something was an added bonus- Dad was super religious- he was three months away from being a priest- spending many years in seminary...so Father, Son and Holy Spirit......  If he had his way, there would be something funny or humorous on the card too : )

Thanks for the great group Barb- it is so wonderful to use all of these unused stamps and supplies !  I am using 'older stuff' and enjoying every minute of it!

Challenges:
Make My Monday- White embossing
Outlaws-Twisted Thursdays- AG plus embossing
Dare2BArtsy- Lots of Layers
International Art and Soul- Embossing
Craft for the Craic- Green and glittery

CYS In the Air

I have joined a group on Splitcoast where we are Challenged to 'Use our Stash'. Additionally, each month we have a theme- this month is 'In the Air'. Such a challenge gets you looking in your stash for some ideas- I had a hard time making a decision, so made 2 cards again this month......

I bought this stamp set from Hero Arts at CHA in 2008..... and am so happy to finally use it!  The background was inspired by a Unity technique video : )  I used Distress inks, Versamark and Silver EP. I just love the way this turned out : )

As long as I had the Distress Inks out, I inked up another piece of cardstock using many ink colors and stencils. I have Elizabeth Crafts Designs stickers that are used with Glitter Ritz and colored (over the Glitter Ritz) with Copics.

Challenge Your Stash

I have joined a group on Splitcoast where we are Challenged to 'Use our Stash'. Additionally, each month we have a theme- this month is Silver, Black and White. Such a challenge gets you looking in your stash for some ideas- so much stash...hehehe  (I won't mention unused).

I decided to get out the Washi Tape. I seem to believe I will not buy any more, then I walk by a display and behold, another roll I have to have.......
I used a cardstock that I purchased many years ago that is black on the outside and white on the inside. I layered the Washi diagonally. The image (unused) is by Our Daily Bread Designs. The silver backing for the image and the musical notes are Christmas wrapping paper : )  . The musical notes dies are by Ellentina.
Well, I could not stop at one......

I used more vintage Washi this time. The image and sentiment are by Unity Stamps (also never used before).  I punched 3 hearts with a SU punch using the silver wrapping paper. I added Sparkle on the image using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen, then got carried away and outlined the image and al of the words in the sentiment.

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp- AG
Perfectly Created Chaos-Black and White +one color
Word Art Wednesday- AG

I am almost back at full speed- I am loading all of the programs I use the most on my computer.  I still have not figured out how to fix the header on my blog, may have to try another change and see if it goes back to being centered : )
