Oriental Swap at MFP

I decided to join in a card swap over at MFP- not only do you get to exchange ideas with other card makers, but MFP rewards you with stamps : )

My background is Washi Paper- a gift from Paige-it has Metallic Gold in it which the picture does not pick up. I used the subtle green color from the Washi for the background and for my MS punched border. I added some metallic Gold cardstock by Paper Temptress for accents. The butterfly is stamped, colored with Copics and I added Creative Inspirations Fairy Dust paint to add some shimmer.

Here are the cards I received back- taken with my Iphone- so the best they can be:

Floral card- in my favorite two colors- by An'Jenic Gibson

Tiger by Jane Chambers- taken at a side angle so you can see the gold swirl accents and the green jewels

And finally, a beautiful Z-fold card by Vickie Y. I love the chipboard fan- oh- I took a picture from above showing the card design and the inside as well:
I am liking this card design- may have to make one of these myself.......

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day : )

Sweet Stamps- Valentine or Love

The Sweet Stamps Challenge this week is Valentine or Love.

Oh I had a messy awesome time making this card!  I took Tattered Rose Distress Ink, dabbed it on my nonstick craft mat and spritzed it with a mix I made.....Yep...I took a mini mister and added Fairy Dust Creative Inspirations Paint and made my own mist.  I do not have the recipe, I just stir the paint with the wrong end of my paintbrush, and then place it in the mini mister and stir-the paint is just the small amount that is on the end of my paintbrush-~ 1/2" or so..... repeat 1-2 more times until the spritz is the amount of shimmer you desire. Next, I used Fired Brick Distress Ink and spritzed with CI Fairy Dust paint and dragged it through....I dried after each time dragging the paper through and kept repeating until I was happy with the color. I made a couple sheets of this while I was at it..... Very Shimmery....... : )
Next, I took Ranger Distress Markers and colored the image- lightest colors first- flowers with Tattered Rose and Fired Brick, and the greenery with Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint. There is enough ink on the stamp to huff and re-stamp, so I made another and will use it for an ATC.....

This background is very shimmery and has just a tad more Fired Brick in the background- and I hope you can see the shimmer : )   I cut thin strips of the Coordinations cardstock and made a weave pattern for the background. I cut the lower portion of the rose image and added it over the weave. I thought it was fun to see just a portion of the image used in another way. I added  border stamp around the perimeter in White ink- can you see the dots?

Bloggers Challenge- Sparkle and Shine

Sparkle and Shine is the challenge at Bloggers Challenge this week- and I have been missing joining in!  I made this card for my charge nurse at work:
This uses a TJ technique called Mono Markers. I love the depth of color achieved!  I used an image by Sweet Stamps. I used Creative Inspirations paint Fairy Dust over the marker on the candle to add sparkle, and also added sparkle to the centers of the flowers. For the background of the candles, I added a sparkly/shimmery cardstock - the cardstock is slightly off white IRL.

I am celebrating Christmas with my Family in my hometown of Kankakee, Ill Saturday. So, I am still singing Christmas Hymns and wrapping Christmas gifts : )  And, I may have to make some cookies tomorrow.......

Michael Strong Challenge

Michael Strong has a Yahoo Group that I belong to- and we have a monthly challenge that I rarely get to play along with.  Well, on HIS BLOG, Michael  posted a Tree silhouette for us to use to create a card.
I am trying to get more Christmas cards done, so had to take the challenge!  I imported the Tree Silhouette into my Make the Cut program, and cut it out in 4 different sizes. Before I cut it out, I took a number of green stamp pads and applied the ink DTP.
I Sponged on ink to the white cardstock and added stickles. On the trees, I stippled on Creative Inspirations Fairy Dust paint. I punched out the deer from an old MS punch. The Sentiment is Sweet Stamps. The star is hand cut.

Challenges:
Michael Strong- use Tree image on a card
Bloggers Challenge- Make a Scene
Craft a Scene- Winter Scene

Sweet Stamps- Cold & Snowy.......

The Sweet Stamps Challenge this week is Cold and Snowy.
I decided to made a flip card:
The snowman is painted using Creative Inspirations paint : )

It is so hard to capture glimmer in the pictures.......
I  had fun using glittery Embossing Powders- the snowman is embossed using Black Sparkly EP and the snowflakes in Ivory Sparkle EP.  I used clear EP on the snowman panel background (emboss resist) -the cardstock was white to begin with. The snowflake in the upper left corner and both sentiments are stamped in the clear embossing ink, then in the Nassau blue and then clear embossed.
The left side panel is embossed using Coordinations cardstock, then sanded and the raised embossed areas  painted with Creative Inspirations Fairy Dust paint. The right side is Bo Bunny Designer Paper. The flip side of the snowman panel is also the same DP with more snowflakes and the Merry Christmas sentiment.

Here are the Sweet Stamps products I used on my card:
Image - Stitched Button Snowman HERE

Small snowflakes are from this set HERE

Sweet Stamps- Christmas

This week at the Sweet Stamps Challenge we are creating Christmas cards.
I usually make religious cards to send out, but I have a few friends who they are not appropriate for.... This fun image is a new release from Sweet Stamps. Growing up in a big family, we had our share of snowball fights- Oh...memories!
The image is colored in Copics and Creative Inspirations Paint. The sentiment is also colored with Copics and has Liquid Applique added to the splat 'O' with Creative Inspirations Paint stirred into it. The Candi Brads are also painted with CI paint. I used a sponging tool that has an open pattern with the Blue Ice CI paint and added shimmer to the image panel. A little more shimmer was added with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen- love this pen- on the snowball and on the girls trim and snowman's scarf.
                         ************************************************
I want to show you what you can do if your dies you want to use are too big for your image......  The next smallest die was just too small.....

So, I line up the top and the sides and cut this out....... (above).

Next, figure out where you want the bottom to cut out, and place the cardstock in the die where you want it. Now, flip the die and image over and make sure the edges are lined up inside the lines/ridges of the die. Use double sided-removable tape to hold your cardstock just where you want it.

                                                                                  Viola!

Sweet Stamps Stamped Background challenge

This week at the Sweet Stamps Challenge we are making cards with Stamped Backgrounds.

I used Ranger Distress inks on the background and then stamped over the background with the Baroque Border Stamp. (The image is stamped three times on the background- hard to see the top and bottom though).  I stamped the Pixie Silhouette image in Tumbled Glass then embossed with Clear EP. The white BG was too stark, so I dabbed on some Dried Marigold. I put 1/4" Scor Tape around the edge of the image with a small edge of it sticking out over the edge. I used clear glass microbeads that were colored with a Copicmarker (yellow) which stuck to the exposed adhesive- the adhesive on the backside of the panel helped adhere it to the background.
The brads in the corners are Candi legless brads painted in Turquoise Creative Inspirations Paint.

Here are the Sweet Stamps products I used on my card:

Sweet Stamps- Ornament Challenge

This week at the Sweet Stamps Challenge we are making Ornaments- we want to see ornaments or an ornament on your project.

I found this idea for the rolled paper star on Pintrest- but did not  'pin' it, so I cannot give you the link (if I find it, I will.......).
I had a paper mache star ornament, I painted it white then added Bo Bunny DSP with Gel Medium.

On the other side (which will be the front) I stamped  the Stained Glass Madonna and Child image and embossed it with Queen's Gold embossing Powder.  Next, I painted the image with Creative Inspiration Paints:

I love the shimmer....wish it showed up better.......

I made a color chart for the CI paints- so I put the ornament next to my color chart to choose the color for the border and added paper rolls:
I decided Beige CI paint would work the best for the look I wanted.

I cut up pages from a magazine and used a skewer to roll them......

I added the rolled paper around the edges and used gel medium to attach them.

Once done, I added a bow with gold ribbon and added a star- it is metal and was an antique bronze color to begin with. I painted on Creative Inspiration paint in a bright Yellow- lovin the way it looks.....

Here are the Sweet Stamps products I used on my card:
Image- Stained Glass Madonna and Child HERE
Ranger Distress Ink- clear embossing Ink HERE

No worries......

I saw this great sentiment and it seemed to work beautifully with this card. Remember a few weeks ago when Sweet Stamps had the bleach challenge?

This was my first attempt at the bleaching- and when I tried to bleach the purple ink , it turned turquoise..... Well, the blue faded away and so I finished up the card. I painted over the bleached out butterflies with Creative Inspirations Fairy Dust paint.  The butterfly and background images are from Sweet Stamps and the sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I added a seam binding bow using a Copic marker to color it purple.
I hope you have a wonderful worry free or worry light day!

Sweet Stamps Challenge- Think Spring!

The challenge at Sweet Stamps this week is to 'Think Spring'. I used this gorgeous Floral Arrangement stamp-I stamped and embossed it on Watercolor paper and used watercolor crayons to color it.

I used Authentique DSP called Genuine and was inspired by the blue/yellow colors to watercolor my image. I used Black embossing powder using Ranger embossing Ink. After watercoloring, I added a  light grey layer and shadowing around the image that is hard to see in the picture.

I used Raw Sienna Creative Inspirations Paint to color the Cheery Lynn Italian Doily Die behind the image, the butterfly die- also Cheery Lynn and the Seam Binding. I colored the rhinestones with Copic YR24 from the Harvest Gold set. I added the Cheery Lynn Dancing Doily Border Edge in Navy under the seam binding. I used to sew alot- this border looks like tatting to me- I LOVE it!!!

Sweet Stamps and St. Patrick's Day

The Challenge at Sweet Stamps this week is St Patrick's Day. I love St. Patrick's Day- and everything green and not green that goes along with it-  my Father is 100% Irish!

I decided to make TWO versions of this card as long as I was at it.....

And here is one with the shimmer from the Creative Inspirations paint:

HOW To Make these cards:

-I made a DTP (Direct to Paper) swipe with a light green and a dark green ink pad

-Next, add Gesso over the ink and using a credit card, scrape it off in both directions- up/down and side to side

-Add more DTP ink in the two green colors.

-Stamp the shamrock in the darker green and in White Dye ink randomly

-Add Autumn Wheat Creative Inspirations Ink with an sponge or a stamp that has wide pattern.

-Stamp the sentiment in Black

-Cut out the Nestability and the Gold Metallic cardstock for the back layer.

-Put the Nestability back on the sentiment layer and use a dauber to gently apply color to the border

-Pierce the outer border of the Nestability.

-Using Gold Metallic thread, add a Zig Zag stitch to the top 2 layers:
***TIP- Using Metallic threads adds shimmer to your card and is a perfect way to glitz up cards for soldiers that you cannot use glitter on- Creative Inspirations Paints are another great shimmery idea- it will not rub off on the soldiers hans or get on their uniforms***

-Add the gems and the ribbon bow.

Products used:
Stamps:  Shamrock Duo,
Inks: Shades Dye Inks and White Dye Ink for Parchment Crafting and Black Memento Ink
Autumn Wheat Creative Inspirations Paint

I hope you will join the challenge at the Sweet Stamps blog- one randomly chosen Papercrafter will be chosen to win product from the Sweet Stamps Store. If you use a Sweet Stamps image, you will be eligable for two entries.  Please check the side bar of the blog for the rules. **If you do not have any St Pat's stamps- be creative- use shamrocks or green flowers.....: )

Sweet Stamps- B-I-N-G-O

We are playing Bingo this week at Sweet Stamps for Challenge #54.  I had fun creating this card:

 and close-up:
Here is the Bingo card for you to play on. All you need to do is pick one line on the card, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. You can even choose an X or + pattern.
I used Heat Embossing, Ribbon and Flowers.

We hope you will join us in this challenge for a chance to win $20 of rubber stamps from SweetStamps. The challenge rules are listed in the sidebar of the challenge blog. There is alot of great inspiration on the blog as well- stop on by!

Do you love sparkle and shimmer?  Try taking the Creative Inspirations Paints and dab them on to your paper for a fun fun background.  I used Sage, Tu Tu Pink and Blush.  I stamped and embossed the Bird on a flowering Branch image with Black Detail Embossing Powder on Cryogen White cardstock. I used the marker water coloring technique (Technique Junkies) to add color- the flowers are Shades Satin Rose water painted on with Sunshine CI paint added in the flower centers.  The bird and flowers are cut from a 2nd stamped and embossed image and added for dimension. The bird is attached just in the middle and the head and tail are elevated from the cardstock.
The seam binding is painted with Creative Inspirations Paint- I wet it with water first, then painted on Tu Tu Paint and Blush CI paints. I added a Zig-Zag sewing stitch, then added three pearls in the upper corner with Liquid Pearls in Petal Pink.

Here are the Sweet Stamps supplies I used to create my card:
Stamp- Bird on a Flowering Branch
Black Fine Detail Embossing Powder
Distress Clear Embossing Ink
Liquid Pearls-Petal Pink
Creative Inspirations Paint- Sunshine, Tu Tu, Blush and Sage
Shades Dye Ink-Satin Rose

McMahon Five Designs- Magnetic Bookmark

I found a fun magnetic bookmark in a store in Breckenridge last year- and I wanted to make one- today was the day!
I used a digital image Go Confidently and colored it with Watercolors (Gable Green and Turquoise and Yellow) and then added Creative Inspirations Paint to add some shading.  (I used Blue Ice and Sapphire paints) .
I wanted the color to match my Glimmer Mist Watercolor background (Kiwi and Blue Skies). I used a Zig Zag and added stitching around the border after adding some direct to paper inking with the green and Turquoise inks.
Here is a close up of the glimmer- it is so shimmery IRL!

Now on the back, I used the same glimmer mist and used another Technique Junkies technique called Glimmer Lace.
I did the DTP swiping on the edges and added stitching.

I added a piece of Turquoise cardstock the same width as the tag and scored it every 1/8 inch in both directions.  I sewed on lace where the cardstock joined the tag on both sides, and on the bottom of the sentiment side.

Now, I have some magnet sheets somewhere, but cannot find them...so I took 2 refrigerator magnets that are business card sized that came in ads and glued them with craft glue to the back of the tag.
I really like that I can put this tag in from the top or from the side...and that way, I can bookmark where I stopped reading....... and it stays where I put it......

and here is the other side....

 Challenges-yes!
Fab and Funky- use a digi
Flutter By Wednesday's- use a butterfly
Gingersnaps- Words of Wisdom
Ruby's Rainbow- shimmer
Try it on Tuesday- Alter it
Make My Monday- Butterflies
