Scarecrow

I made this sweet card for the CAS challenge at SCS last week.

I found this free digi image on the internet from Coloringhome.com, and colored it using Copic markers.  I used Distress inks and stenciled a bit in the background using a stencil by Gina K Designs. The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

Jan's Digital Stamps-Caroling

I know it is almost Halloween, but I want to focus on making a few more Christmas themed cards!  Jan's Digital Stamps has a new release- it is on sale right now and I love it!!!

I just love these little carolers- and as always, the set of images come precolored and black and white.  I used the precolored version of the Carolers here.  I printed it twice, fussy cut out one set of carolers and it is popped up for dimension. I happened to have a musical background DP, so added that. The carolers are on a panel cut out on a die from CC Designs and the snowflake die is Gina Marie.  The sentiment is part of the set.

I do not usually make multiples of cards, but this will be an exception : )

SCS Featured Stamper

A beautiful 6x6 pad of paper has been staring me down lately, and I made a card using the SCS Featured Stamper Marianne today.  I used a couple of dies I wanted to cut out, and a Taylored Expressions sentiment.

It's not too often I post a card with no coloring......  but, today's card is one of the rare ones!  I used the Dp as a backdrop and added white die cut flowers as the accent.  Sequins were also added. I used SU cardstock- an in-color from the past few years....... and a perfect match for the DP from Hobby Lobby.
The daisy dies are Memory Box, and the poppy- from SSS.

October DDD-Gnomes

This month, our Dueling Darlings teams are creating with Gnomes!  Terry S is the hostess for the Dazzlers, and LJ for the Divas.

I wanted to use the background die I just bought from Pink Fresh Studios on the back, so that made this card a slimline card. I used a Gina Marie die to cut out the image, a SU oval punch for the sentiment and a piercing mat & tool.  The moon is a SU 1 3/4" punch. Images were colored using Copic markers.

I loved the kit, so decided to make another card- this is the Sketch challenge from SCS this past Wednesday.  A very interesting design and I did alter it by making it a bit smaller than the 6" sample- this is 5.25" x 5.25" .

The kit from Terry S included:
Images: Photoplay Gnome for the Holidays Halloween
Ink: Memento Tuxedo black
Cardstock- Neenah Classic Crest super smooth white
DP-Photoplay Potions and Spells, Hocus Pocus, Batty and Paperstudios Polka Dots
Gina Marie enamel dots, Paper Studio gems, action wobble, The Ribbon Boutique ribbons

Here are the links for all of the Dazzlers and the Divas.  I look forward to seeing all of the different versions or interpretations of the kit!

Hello Sunshine

I made up a card for the new round of the Alpha challenge over at SCS- the theme B=Beach

The Riley's are doing a Hula at the beach- I would like to join them : )   The image from Riley and Co is colored using Copics. It is framed using a Memory Box stitched circle die. The blue (Pacific Point SU) panel is embossed with an EF. I added a few seashells by Memory Box. The sentiment is by MFT.

Gelato's and Texture Paste

Mixed Media is something I like to dabble with, and had a bit of fun trying a couple of challenges at Splitcoaststampers.

I have an art journal which only has 2 pages done and one is dated 2014......  I guess the only way to learn is to try, right???  This page used Gelatos for color and has added texture with texture paste.  I used napkins aka the bird and the music notes.  I tried rub-ons- which did not work too well, so I colored in the partial birds using a pen. Pitt pen in white and marker for doodling. I also added in some washi paper....  I did learn how to layer-carefully- over gelato's using Gel medium.......

While the theme of the 1st page was texture paste, I used it on this page as well.  The theme here is gelato's.  The go on and blend smoothly if you use Gesso on the page first. Since the texture paste was still on my desk, I mixed in Gelato's with the texture paste and it was fun to have the added color over the Gelato's color.  I added the stenciled flowers also using Gelato's.

This was fun and I hope to keep this up and use more of the supplies I have on my shelves!

This is a Gina K stencil and I used embossing paste mixed with Gelato's to create the background. The stamps are by Unity. I added a few sequins to dress up the front.
This will go to a friend who has some health challenges and the ribbon is appropriate- so sorry to say!

HB2U

Using three Splitcoast challenges for this card!  Color challenge, CAS theme cupcake and the Teapot Tuesday- send a B-day card to a woman who is turning 102!

I sponged on the Calypso and Curry colors onto the background, then did reverse stenciling using brown- Close to Cocoa. I used a Memory Box stencil.  The Gerda Steiner image was colored using Copics, and cut out with a die cut.  I added a bow for the Teapot Tickle challenge too.  The sentiment is Simon Says Stamps.

I was able to Zoom with a friend from SCS while creating, which was fun and sure makes the time pass quickly too!

Hoping you are well and staying that way too!

Scarecrow

It's a new challenge over at Jan's Digital images, and I used the image Harvest /scarecrow 3335J again- I just love this fun set and so perfect for this Fall season!

Jan's sets are delivered to your inbox in a precolored and a black and white version.  I chose to color my own image for this challenge to match the DP.  COpics were used to color the image.  The sunflowers were printed out in the precolored form, and I added Glossy Accents over the top to make them glossy in appearance.  I added a die cut from Cheery Lynn Designs in the upper Rt corner for accenting the card, and topped it with an enamel dot.
I used the Splitcoaststampers Tuesday Teapot challenge from 9/29 to create this card.

World Cardmaking Day

I was able to steal away a little time in my craft room today and celebrate World Cardmaking Day!

As of late, I have been getting my creative 'prompts' from challenges at SCS.  I combined 2 challenges today- one is a Christmas card color challenge open for Fan Club members.  The other was the Free for all Challenge- asking for a Stenciled, Sparkly and Shiny card.
I have 2 containers of Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes, so popped open a multicolor gold and went to town.
I cut out the nativity die from Die-Versions and have applied double sided sticky tape to both sides.  The gilding flakes were applies and burnished.  I added Glue through a Sizzix stencil and added some gold dots to the top, and then after cleaning the die, went over the entire black card using a metallic silver ink.
I drew and cut out the gold star, and added the sentiment from Sizzix Alterations using the same method as the above die.
I added a very thin strip of black shimmery Washi at the top and at the base of the card.

I may have to make a few more like this, I am loving this look- so much prettier IRL!!!

Watercoloring Embossing Folders

Over at Splitcoaststampers, there is a watercolor challenge.  I am really enjoying this challenge alot.  This week, we are to emboss on watercolor cardstock, then brush on water and add water color paints.

First, I used a green color of paint, let it dry and next added purple.  Oce dry, I sponged Purple on the edges of the cardstock.  The image and flower are Concord & 9th.  I colored the image using Copic markers. The flower was stamped 3 times, the top layer is just one flower and is on a dimensional and I curved the edges. Sequins finish off this card.

For this card, I did drop in color, and used a brush to even out some of the tones.  I do like the end result however.  The sentiment is by Unity Stamps.
All of the paints I used are Daniel Smith.
