Sweet Stamps- Floral Inspiration

It's another great challenge at Sweet Stamps .  Our challenge theme for this week is to use the floral inspiration picture below- an ode to Pink and Blue : )

I decided to create a little shabby and distress the edges of the DP and my DP butterfly using a touch of Antique Linen Distress Ink. The Coordinations was sanded (I learned that via Technique Junkies) to add to the distressed look. The butterfly was cut from the DP and I painted over the top of it using Fairy Dust Creative Inspirations Paint. The butterfly is a 2 layer die- so the top is the same cardstock as the base.

Here are the Copic markers I used on the card:

Here is the Inspiration Photo- Oh, I LOVE Pink and Blue : )

Here are the supplies I used on my card:

Floral Card in a Box

I joined in a Mingle in the Oriental Stamp Art Yahoo group recently for Different kinds of folds cards. One of our Sponsors at Technique Junkies is About Art Accents- and I used a newly released stamp plate for Spring and made a Card in a Box.
Can you see the lower part of the box- that is called Embossed Wax Paper resist.

Here are the sides of this card:
And side 2:
And here is the back- that is gold shimmery cardstock (Paper Temptress):

I used a number of Technique Junkies techniques on this card, including Embossed Wax Paper Resist, Salt and Pepper and Simple Sumi (dragonflies).  I stamped the images and colored some using Copics, others (tulips) were watercolored.

What is really neat with these cards, is that they fold down flat to put in an envelope to mail.

When traveling to China, regardless of the city, there is always open space reserved for parks, and they are beautifully manicured with fabulous flowers! So, with that memory in mind, this card was a delight to create, even in light of all of the fussy cutting!

Challenges:
Creative Knockouts- Anything Goes
Shelly's Images- April Showers bring May Flowers
Creative Moments- Spring
The Sisterhood of Crafters- Things with Wings
Ladybug Crafts- Spring is Here
Crafty Sentiments Design- Fun Folds
Fan-Tastic Tuesday- Anything Goes
Loves Rubberstamps - Fancy Folds
Paperminutes- Card with effect/movement
Try it on Tuesday- More than one fold

Have a fabulous weekend!

Sweet Stamps- Sweets

It's Tuesday, so time for our weekly challenge at Sweet Stamps .  Our challenge theme for this week is Sweets .
We have had a few Birthdays to celebrate this month, and made cupcakes to celebrate!  29 again : )

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch on this card. The cardstock is Coordinations, and the DP is My Mind's Eye.
I love the Magnetic die plate- no more needing to use post it notes or double sided removable tape : ) , and that background die has been waiting patiently for months to be used! Next, I took Scor Tape, attached it to cardstock , then cut out the circle. I added Microfine Golden Glitz Glitter to the circle. The image is stamped in Brownie ink- I rubbed off the brown ink off the candletip and used Mustard Seed ink for the flame. I added Worn Lipstick for frosting, fussy cut out the image and then popped it up onto the circle.

Today is my Baby's 21st birthday- on the 21st!  Happy Birthday Stephi!

Here is my supply list from the Sweet Stamps store:

Here come the Cottontails....

Those who know me well know the joy in creating for me is trying new techniques : )  This is a new fun technique by Technique Junkies called Stencil Spray with a Twist.

I had a blast- started with cutting a stencil for my background with an SVG from Bird's Cards- which she generously offers for free- love her beautiful files- on my new Silhouette Cameo! Then, I sprayed on Dylusions in some bright colors.
The  bunny images are from Impression Obsession- I inked them up with two different colors of brown inks and texturized with the ink pads before stamping them. I cut them out leaving a tiny border of white. The sentiment is a digi from Sweet n Sassy stamps. The background stamp is from Starving Artistamps (stamped in black- not sure if it is retired?).

Addicted to Stamping- Anything Goes

Sweet Stamps- Anything Goes/ Embossing (Dry or Heat)

It's another great challenge at Sweet Stamps .  Our challenge theme for this Week is Anything Goes PLUS we are combining our Monthly challenge- Embossing (Dry or Heat).
I used Cold Press Watercolor paper for my card. I swiped the antistatic pad across the paper, then embossed with Black Detail EP.  I painted using Peerless Transparent Watercolors.
Here is how I store my watercolors so I can paint with them wherever I want to- this makes them easy to travel with as well. I have a couple of pieces of acetate cut to the size of the case that I use for painting- I can mix colors on it and water down the colors there as well. Any unused paints dry and I can use them later as well. This is just a small piece of the paint swatch from the Peerless pkg, so when I use all of the paint of any color, I can replace the swatch from my book and start all over.

Here are the products I used from the Sweet Stamps Store:

I hope you will join in the challenge! Every entry qualifies you for a chance to win $20 of items from the store at Sweet Stamps, and if you use a Sweet Stamps image- you will receive an additional chance to win! The winner is chosen by Random.org- so everyone has a chance to win!

Ir-Resistable fun with an older technique

I needed to make cards for a swap today, so looked at challenges, so decided to play with a challenge from MFP and made Wax Paper Resist cards.
This is plain old Wax Paper resist- so I had to try something fun- I cut an oval die out of the center of the Wax Paper and left that part white. When I cut the oval, I made a template with a plain white cardstock, so I could place it over the the oval when I added the color.

So, for my Swap cards, I used the wax paper in an embossing folder and so the Wax Paper resist has a pattern:
The horse was stamped on a textured CS, so I just cut around the outside. The word for horse in Chinese is 'ma' and there are 4 different tones in Chinese- so- in the other tones it also means mother, hemp, or scold..... That is why Chinese is so hard to speak! Horse is a third tone......

All stamps are from Mark's Finest Papers.

All God's Children

"All God's Children" is the theme of a Blog Hop today, hosted by The Carriers of Faith. We are a blogging group over at SCS.

"And Jesus took a child and put him in this midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me. " ~Mark 9:36-37

Children find their joy in simplicity, as in the scene above. They can spend the entire day finding bugs under rocks or scattering seeds. When I think of children, I also think of their innocence and pure Love.

I was fortunate to grow up in a very faith-filled family with 2 sisters and 4 brothers. We spent hours outdoors finding joy and entertainment in finding bugs, swimming and fishing and playing baseball. We would get refrigerator boxes and roll down the hill of the 1st riverbank......

My card uses a digi image by Nicecrane Deisgns that I found through a Facebook group called Christian Cardmakers around the world. The digi sentiment is from Create with TLC. The background I learned in the latest Technique Junkies newsletter called Stencil Spray fun.

Sweet Stamps Challenge- Easter

It's another great challenge at Sweet Stamps .  Our challenge theme for this week is Easter .

I love this image- and started out embossing on Vellum and was going to color it in, but I decided to try embossing the image with a variety of Embossing Powders, and I decided I like the sparkly look on the rich purple cardstock. The embossing powder has sparkle to it- and I cut out a thin layer of white shimmery cardstock beneath it. There is a layer of embossed purple cardstock behind the cross too- I layered it all up on a Center Step card.

I had fun trying the Royal Sterling Enamel EP on the butterflies as well. Oh- this is so gorgeous IRL!  There is purple and silver shimmer too : )
I made a number of embossed Cross images- here are a couple more CAS cards I put together:
This cardstock is a very shimmery cardstock from Paper Temptress- and the EP is called 24 K Gold.....looks so elegant- I decided to stop.....

And this is the Royal Sterling EP on another white shimmery cardstock (also from Paper Temptress). This is very shimmery IRL too. I decided to leave this CAS as well.

There are the Sweet Stamps products I used on these cards:

Feeling ready for Spring!

The new Technique Junkies Newsletter is out : )   I love a couple of the techniques so much- this is my take on the Stencil Spray with a Twist:
I used Dylusions in Red, Orange and Green. The stencil pattern was cut on the Cameo (using Make the Cut). I used a Freebie SVG as a pattern for the stencil offered by Birds Cards. The background image is SU and the rest are by About Art Accents.
The image is colored with Copic Markers in colors to coordinate with the background. The leaves are a separate image, so I masked them. The shimmer I added with a Stardust Gelly Roll Pen.

Challenges:
Bloggers Challenge- Stencils
Crafty Catz- Springtime
Creative Corner Challenge- April Showers bring May Flowers
