Oriental +Using Unused supplies......

What supplies do you have- had to get it and then never used it???  I joined a challenge at Oriental Stamp Art (the Yahoo Group) to make a card using a technique called- Suminagashi.

Here is an ATC I made with one of the backgrounds:

Technique Junkies published a technique in Oct. 2005 to create this effect on a card- it is called Simple Sumi- and I purchased the product....and never tried it.....  the backgrounds I made (lots of them.....) will make very fun cards- and I am not sure if the technique is altered by the age of the product or not- however, it is 'thicker' looking (less translucent) than the DT cards posted on the Technique Junkies website- it could be the cardstock I used.....  I still like the effect......

So, here is the card I made for the swap for OSA's challenge:
I LOVE this image called Chinese Medallion from About Art Accents- it reminds me of the little scenes painted on the (very extensive) covered walkway at the Summer Palace in Beijing.  The culture of China is so wrapped up in the 'old' traditions and stories of 'ole- and the walkway is loaded with pictures from many 'tales' or old stories. Here is a boy out playing and a servant fanning him in what looks like a rice field......... The Kanji is a punch.

Here is the card my swap partner Carol made for me:
I am not sure of the technique Carol used, but love the sweet image she used!

Challenges for my ATC and card:
Seemacrafts- Mixed Media
ATC's with Attitude- Summertime
Creative Corner- Sumertime
Inspire me Fridays- Anything Goes link-up
Make it Monday- Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by!
Shelly
