This is my first time doing a week of Growing In Unity, aka GIU with Unity Stamps. I love to try different things and try new techniques. So, I decided this week to create using Foils! I have most of the supplies, just need to use them : ) Unity has just added Foils and accessories to their store HERE.
For Day One, I have used a simple toner sheet (This is from Gina K from last year- I do not see it available now). Terribly hard to photograph the shine and beauty of the foils, but I did my best!!!
from the side view.
The toner sheets go through a laminator with the foil and it adheres to the design. It is a stunning effect and very addictive....lol . Designers Gina K and Gracie Chavez both work with alot of decofoil products and have video links on their blogs.
On the toner sheets, you can add color just like regular cardstock- right over the foil. . I added a variety of Distress inks and Distress Oxide inks on this background.
This image is Winter Frosty. I colored it using Copics. I stamped the image and cut around it then glued it onto the background.
I took the remaining foil from the project above, and used it on a second card.
This is Joy girl- I love this stamp! I added double sided adhesive to cardstock and burnished the foil down, then ran it through the laminator. The foil I used from project one had 'blank' areas where the foil was used on the 1st project in the shape of the snowflakes. Those areas will be sticky from the adhesive on the cardstock. So, I sprinkled snowflake glitter on those areas (Sparkle and Sprinkle).
The image was colored with Copics and paper piecing for her shirt and hat. I added shimmer to the ornament and the hat using Wink of Stella.
I will be posting daily this week using foiling techniques. You do NOT need a laminator to apply the foil- stay tuned!
Thank You to Unity for giving me the opportunity to create using their images this week- I am like a kid in a candy store- so hard to choose which images to use to create with!!!
If you leave a comment each day, you will have a chance to win one of two fabulous grab bags of 25 stamps from Unity Stamps!
And, did I mention I have an item or two to give away as well?
In your comments, tell me- Have you tried foiling yet???
I love supporting American made companies like Unity!

How interesting, I have not used foils, and you have made it look easy

I really like Joy Girl as well...have not tried foiling yet....but love the cards people are creating.....
Pretty foils! I love the snowman, they will be here before to long. Great job
I am so incredibly excited that it is your week! I have never tried foiling and I honestly don’t know if I want to for fear of becoming addicted!
I adore your Joy Girl card so much! Have a great week, Shelly!!🤗🤗
These are so pretty. I actually like the one using the leftover foil better than the original. Great idea to use double-sided tape for the foil on that one. Enjoy your week.
I have not jumped on the foiling bandwagon as of yet, but have enjoyed seeing everyone's creations. Maybe after Christmas. I should know all the what to and not to do by the time I dive in :-) Love your cards and looking forward to seeing your posts this week.

Gorgeous cards, I haven't tried foiling just yet but it's on my list of things to try LOL I swear that list grows every day!
Gorgeous cards. I just tried foiling about a week ago. Still haven’t mastered it. I guess I’ll have to keep trying...
Thanks so much for sharing.
Wow! Your cards are just gorgeous! I have not tried foiling, don't have any materials... yet. I'm anxious to see your techniques this week!
Beautiful cards, Shelly! Thanks for the inspiration to try foiling!

Very nice winter cards!
I've not tried this technique yet but I have both stamp sets. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks for inspiring me to try foiling. I'm a shiny, blingy kinda Girl that loves a challenge!

Just stunning cards. Thanks for the tips and look forward to learning more about foiling. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oooh, I love snowmen! I used to collect them ... un til I just got
too many and not enough space! But I still have room for more snowman
stamps! haha This is so darling! No, I have never tried foiling and I
really want to! I need to just break down and buy some already! Maybe
tomorrow when I go to Hobby Lobby. Both your cards are gorgeous and I am
looking forward to your week as GIU.
These are both stunning Christmas cards.
I’ve not used foils before, but I am definitely interested in exploring the possibilities.
Beautiful cards!!!
Yes. I have used foils, in the beginning using the black toner sheets to cut out dies and then foil, the printed foil sheets. Recently I have used the transfer gel on both stamps and stencils. So much fun!
Shelly, these are really gorgeous cards. I love the foil snowflake backgrounds. I don;t have a laminator and I've watched a lot of videos with foiling but it's just one more machine to have so I haven't really taken the plunge. I love the look but the jury is still out for me as to whether the cost is worth it. I haven't done any research yet. Is it really expensive?
Cute and pretty cards. I like the foiled background. I have not tried foiling yet.
Shelly these cards look so impressive with the foiling!! I have fallen IN LOVE with that darn foiling and would love to do more!! LOL!! You've done a brilliant job with your snow creations here and I love your designs with them! Thanks for sharing! HUGS
There is something so perfect with foiling winter images. I can't wait to try this new technique. I love both cards. Snowmen have always been a favorite. The girl with the ornament is so beautiful with the shiny background! Thank you!
Yikes, if this is day 1, I can’t wait to see the rest of your week! These cards are fabulous! ❤️❤️❤️
I am yet to jump on the foil wagon...love the snowman....
I absolutely love these cards. Fouling is definitely fun and addictive! Great cards.
Very nice. Great way to share this passion for paper and stamps.
Love both of these! I've done foiling but only with glue or tape. I have a small craft room so I didn't want to bring in the heat of a laminator.
Such pretty cards!! I haven’t tried foiling yet but I did purchase some of the foiling products so I hope to try soon.
Oh my goodness! your cards are soooooo cuuuuuuute! I have not yet tried to foil basically because right now I have no money to buy any of the stuff! But I definitely do want to do it once I do! I saw that you have a way to do it without a laminator! When I read that you made me a very happy lady! I can't wait for you to show us how!
Super cute snowman, but that Unity holiday girl has stolen my heart!! Fabulous work, Shelly! Congratulation on your week as a Growing with Unity Girl!!
These are great cards Shelly--you will rock this week!
Love that you are featuring foiling all week! I love what you have done here and have things on the way to my mailbox to try out your techniques.
The cards are all lovely!!
I love that snowman. Adorable! Great coloring.
Love those backgrounds!!!
Both of these cards are beautiful and really creative uses of foil.
So beautiful
Great foiled backgrounds for these delightful Unity images!!
