ATC's- Watercoloring

I am in a group that exchanges Artist Trading Cards monthly. We have a theme each month, and this month we did water coloring. I decided to try printing digital images on Watercolor paper......and it worked beautifully. We do a roll call and this month I had to make 12 ATC's.  I made 4 different ATC's- one in 2 colors. I used digital images from McMahon Five Designs:
Nature's Wing's- I used Watercolor Pencils and a touch of Creative Inspirations Paint

Sunbeams Pour- I love these tulips- I used the watercolor pencils.  I made two red ATC's and two purple ATC's.

Breast cancer Butterfly Awareness- I used my Aquapainter and ink from the lid of a stamp pad plus a touch of Creative Inspirations Paint for this ATC.  I wish you could see the shimmer......

And finally- I wanted to try a scene:

Shipwrecked- I used Su watercolor crayons for this image. The color of this ATC is more darker Blues- I used yellow for the sun and that crayon is by the purple- so that is why you see a touch of purple too....next, I used a pale blue , ballet blue then Night of Navy.

Here are the ATC's I recieved in exchange:
Susan- This Peacock is stunning IRL as it is covered with glitter.
   Cindy- water colored a scene

Trena watercolored the background and added this (Lockhart I think) image.
Mari made this great scene with giraffe's

Mary made a bacgfround with watercolors and added a dimensional flower
Sandy stamped a sentiment, then spritzed it with water.

Diane S made this gorgeous background and added the cute mouse with Crystal effects
Michelle used a gorgeous flower- a Mum I think- love these colors!

Harriet used tape around the edge of her ATC, water colored the background then added a display of flowers.
Debbie water colored, added a text to the background, some gold and punched some maple leaves and glitzed them up.

We ended up with just 11 of us, so swapped 10 ATC's.  After the swap, we had a Demo by a member on the Encaustic technique- melting wax and making scenes- Trena showed us gorgeous samples!  I am going to refrain from buying the $140.00 kit though- wow- the samples were stunning though!

One more little swap I just did was themed "pond Life"  and I had to get out the Unfrogettable from SU

I used Copics on the bottom and on the frog- the flowers are dimensional and the sky is sponged.

Here are the ATC's I recieved:
Kathy McConnellmade this fun ATC- how fun to add the fly on the red tongue....!

And this glittery delight was made by Mary Harmon.

Tea Time- CDAC Progressive Digi challenge

I made a couple of cards using digi's from the CDAC progressive challenge:

These digi's are from  Sandy Sample- she won the digi drawing challenge at CDAC.  I love these images- my Mother paints porcelain china and this looks like something she would paint!  I colored the images with Copic markers and added touches of Gold embossing powder by just outlining areas of the colored digi with the slim end of the Versamark pen.  (I drink black tea all day long- regular in the morning and decaf the rest of the day- keeps my throat in good shape- I have bad allergies)!
I have 4 more images to create with to be in the running to win a set of Copic markers.........by August 29th...... I think I can swing that!
If you use digital images and have not heard of CDAC, it is a place where digital image paper crafters/artists gather and there are tutorials, swaps, challenges, etc  HERE is the link. While you are there, friend me if you'd like!

On another note, I have joined the volunteers at Feline Playful Challenge Blog and will help on Tuesdays to post winners.  I really enjoy that blog and will enjoy 'giving back' for the posts save me oodles of time when I am interested in playing along with challenges!

McMahon Five Designs New Releases 8/4/11

Do you have a crafting bucket list?  Well, I  have not actually written it down, but I do have a number of things I would like to try- and a Gothic Arch card is one of them.  When I saw the new release at McMahon Five Designs this week, I was immediately drawn to this Water Nixie image- perfect for an arch card.  While it looks like it could be challenging to color, it was very easy... I printed out the image on Cryogen White cardstock- it is very shimmery IRL.  I colored the image with Copic markers, and added dimension by coloring parts of additional images that I printed and cut out and 'layered up'.  On the top layer, I only glued down the center so there would be some dimension.

 Challenges:
Crafts and Me-Anything goes
Ambers Crafts and Stuff-Sparkle and Shine (Sparkly, shimmery cardstocks)
For Fun-anything goes
Sparkle Creations- Anything goes
For Your Inspiration- Color Inspiration

Creative Belli Challenge #123- Non-paper

For the Creative Belli Challenge, we are to use - Non paper
(material, burlap, silk, jeans, netting, etc)

I used an old SU set Botanicals and stamped the image in pigment ink and clear embossed it on wood paper .   I found a piece of bark from our birch tree in my front yard, and decided to add that under the leaves and over another piece of the wood paper.  Next is a layer of Olive cardstock. The bottom level is Confetti cardstock stamped with Ranger Inks plus a touch of Olive and Artichoke inks. I added a bow out of braided twine.

The wood paper is real wood, and I stamped and embossed on it, I have sewn on it and it goes through my printer for printing digital images too.

The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!  Botanicals is one of those stamp sets that I will never give up- love it!

For ideas and inspiration, check out the DT creations:
