It is the 28th, and that is the day we post our Challenge Your Stash (CYS) Challenge cards. Sue - stampinspooky (Splitcoaststampers user name) is our hostess and her theme is: ~~ April showers bring May flowers-use flowers and/or showers
This sweet image is by Lacy Sunshine. I colored it with Copic Markers. I used Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm DP (which I believe is really old- was only $2.99 for a 6x6 paper pack..... and I also pulled out a button and cording. Do you remember when this went on everything? I bought it in quite a few colors : )
I added a strip of a scrap of DP on the inside as well
April showers bring flowers, bring rainbows : )
The CYS group can be located here. List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of' pile....... HERE is a link to all of the April cards at Splitcoaststampers for this challenge.
The group says closed- but we ARE open to new members!
Challenges TBA

Iris Folding
I joined a mingle, aka 1-4-1 trade, over at the AboutOrientalStampArt Yahoo group for iris folding. I do not do that often at all! So, I tried one card and totally failed, so this is my 2nd try.....
I did enjoy making the card once I got the hang of it..... I added shimmer to the coin image- as you can see... The cardstock I used is pre-scored with a pattern, too bad it does not show up!
Here is my 1st try
Another pattern from the internet- if I did this again, I would fill in the numbers backwards- as it is, this is pretty flat. But I still think it turned out OK.
We have a busy weekend. My youngest brother is here from Texas to visit my mother, and I have to work at the stamping sale I destashed on Saturday. We will meet up with my sisters Saturday night for dinner so they can visit with my brother as well.
Hoping you have a great weekend!!!

Snipping in......
A little fun using- yes-cutting into some coveted DP. It is hard to find Oriental DP, and this has to be at least 10 years old. So.......snip- yep, using it up!
This first card created for a Sketch challenge over at About Oriental Stamp Art (Yahoo Group). I used the crane images by Michael Strong and embossed them directly onto the gold cardstock. I also used up a small amount of ribbon as well.
I made a second card as a RAK for a member of the AOSA group- using a Crafters Companion set- I guess it is not available anymore.
I was drawn to Oriental art before my daughter moved there to teach, and still enjoy it after her three years there and 3 trips to Asia for me! (So glad she is closer to home though!).

Dueling Darlings- Rain or Shine
Its the 15th of the month, and that means it is time for the Dueling Darlings : ) This month Barb (Divas) and Tracie (Dazzlers) have challenged us to create with the theme Rain or Shine.
This sweet image is Sophie by Whipper Snapper. The image was stamped on Neenah Class Crest Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I fussy cut the image and used Copics for coloring. I tried to use a bit of each DP that was sent along : ) The DP's are from Photoplay "Spring in my Garden". The small piece of yellow paper (Sun) is from Doodlebug called "Anchors Aweigh". I fussy cut the rainbow out of one page, and the sun is part of another : )
The sentiment is from Two Paper Divas called "Rain or Shine". I did not use an umbrella die is from Memory Box called "Petite Umbrella", or the yellow seam binding ribbon
Be sure to hop along and see what the other Dazzlers- my team, and the Diva's have made!

Play Ball!
My husband LOVES baseball, he plays in an over 55 league. So, each year I like to create a Birthday card for him with a Baseball theme. So, here is his 2018 card:
I used stamps from Technique Junkies, I stamped this baseball background stamp in (SU) Gray, and used the TH stamping platform- to get a nice crisp image, The glove and sentiment are both stamped in Black Tuxedo Memento. I added just a pop of red and -perfect card for him- he loved it!
Last year in November, he broke his ankle sliding into home, so has been working soooo hard with Physical therapy and working out to get back and play ball! Crossing my fingers and toes for him!
Challenges:
Inspire.Create.Challenge- Masculine

Tuesday Throwdown-Creative Corners
Cutting Cafe is our Sponsor this week over at Tuesday Throwdown, and we are using 'Creative Corners' on our cards.
This group of images is called "For the Love of Lemons". I printed it out twice, and fussy cut out the lemons. I popped up a second layer for dimension. The image was colored with Artesa brush pens. I used a really ancient (lol) corner punch on the edges and on the upper Rt corner, used a stylus and rolled the corner. The DP is Basic Grey, the cardstock is SU Daffodil.
We'd love to have you join us with a fun creative idea for your corners on your project! Don't forget to check out the other DT members blogs as well : )

Altered Paintbrushes
This month, my ATC group decided to try something new- we altered paintbrushes. I made three all together and traded two of them.
This is brush #1
I used Pink and Green paints after the brush was prepped (which is I will show below). I would paint on a color and use a spritz bottle and let the color thin out and run. I also used some modeling paste and a stencil to add some texture on the handle.
The mushrooms image is Unity, the gnomes are Gerda Steiner for the Monthly Progressive challenge. I think these 2 images are perfect together : )
On to Paintbrush #2
A close-up
The Birdcage is Prima, and it is paintedsilver metallic. The birds are from a die as is the branch, and the flowers- from my stash. The ribbon is all hand-dyed from.....I have to check that. I used alot of stickles on this brush. The bottom of the brush- the bristles are covered with paint and stickles as well- so it very shimmery.
Brush #3
The findings on this brush are from Prima and Melissa Francis. The rhinestones are colored with Copics and wrapped around the handle.
This brush was claimed by my mother : )
The brushes are 3" and were purchased at the dollar tree. I did sand the handles lightly just to make sure the paint would adhere over the varnish.
Next, I painted the entire brush with white Gesso. After Gesso, I painted on Crackle paint, so all of the brushes have crackle look on them. This was quick and I painted all three at the same time.
This is a picture of all of the group brushes- we all exchanged one- my mom exchanged one of mine, so I traded the first two.

COF April Hearts
For the April Crafters of Faith challenge, aka COF, our hostess Tracie challenged us to use a heart on our cards. Here is the Scripture she asked us to ponder:
Scripture: "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart" Psalms 37:4
One of my favorite scriptures : ) This stamp was one of my earlier purchases- it is from Embossing Arts, and the heart from Michael Strong.
The DP is by Prima. And, you gotta love how the ribbon matches the DP : )

MIni Art
ATC post for today. I joined a Unity ATC group and love that as it will encourage me to use my stamps!!!
Apparently I was in a purple mood the days I created these ATC's. I used Distress Oxide Inks on these projects. For this first ATC, I lightly used blue ink over the image which I stamped in Black Tuxedo Memento ink on Neenah cardstock. I colored in the butterfly with Copics. Next, I used 2 different stencils and added more Distress Ink in blues and purples. And, I added a Dew Drop in blue. There is also a touch of sparkle inside the dragonfly,
This ATC uses the technique Jennifer McGuire showcased recently where you lift color from flowers using a waterbrush. I added sparkle in the small dots around the flowers using a Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen.
