Faux SIlk Spotlight

Still catching up..... I made a card or two for a Faux Silk mingle

I used a (retired) SU image, stamped on the cardstock, then on tissue paper. I had the idea to try a spotlight technique, so punched out the bird, added a scalloped circle to make it pop. The background is also stamped on tissue paper.  I colored in the image by making a post it note stencil and sponging in the color.

I made a second one where the spotlight is the only faux Silk area
I added some inking and light stamping on the background.  What do you think???

This is the card I received from Debbie V in exchange:

Thanks for stopping by!

I love the gentle background created by your stamped tissue paper. Perfect placement of your spotlighted bird and branch! Exquisite work!

Beautiful cards, Shelly. Something about oriental looking cards always makes me smile. Hope you are doing well. I am missing my card stuff being away from home and haven't had much time to color some of the images that I did bring with me. Have a great week!

These are all so beautiful. I wouldn't have thought to stamp on tissue paper for a background.

Shelly, both cards are quite fabulous. I was just saying the other day, I think the Asian - Oriental art bug has bitten lots of us this spring. I just finished one the other day, hope to get it blogged about before too long. Love the stamping on tissue paper, just makes it so pretty. xoxo

Awesome cards, Shel - reminds me of when your sweet Katie was there! You are truly the queen of working with asian stamps and papers and patterns! I could pick one out of book and literally know it was yours - what a great eye for detail and design you have.

OH and Thank you for the birthday card!!! I LOVE It!!!! ♥ (and you!)
