We are making Anything but a card for the Sweet Stamps challenge this week.
I made my daughter a name hanger for her classroom, she found the original idea on Pintrest made out of wood. I cut out a piece of cardboard 17" long x 5" wide. I covered it with cardstock- Lt to Rt- Pink, Metallic Silver, So Saffron and White.
For the pink section, I added color direct to paper swiping the ink onto the paper. Over the metallic cardstock, I added a couple of strips from the Braided Borders Globecraft Piccolo set. They are quick and easy to emboss using the adhesive and then adding Siam Silver Enamel EP.
Over the So Saffron cardstock, I sponged So Saffron ink through the 'Backsplash' 6x6 stencil. Next, the cardstock was scored long ways 1.5" in from both edges, which you can see if you enlarge the picture. I used a 1 1/4" punch for the side edges and a 1 3/4 punch for the center section of the bottom edge, then hand trimmed that a bit, I added the text using and old Alphabet set I bought for the Cuttlebug way back when..........
The last section is a white piece of cardstock that I dragged a Shades Die Ink spot over the cardstock- direct to paper- in Beach, then added a few stripes in Latte for some depth. I added the black tip to the end of the pencil and that is it.
In case she wants to hang it up, I sent a little bit of ribbon along too.
My daughter is back from teaching from China for three years- so nice to have her on American soil and teaching in the same state : )

So creative! I love it!
This is adorable, Shelly. I bet your daughter loves it! I remember my teaching days. These kind of things would have made it so much fun. But I rarely had time to do things like this. I guess at that time my creativity was my bulletin boards. Good luck to her now that she is back in the States. Have a great week!
So happy to hear your daughter is back from China. How nice for you. Your name plate is truly adorable.
What a wonderful idea. Hope you don't mind I passed the idea on to my Daughter-in-law who is a Para-Educator for a fifth grade class. What grade does your daughter teach? I bet she really loved your little addition to her classroom!

How clever to use cardboard. I love the texture it gives to your pencil, like it's really made out of wood. What a special personal touch to grace your daughter's door to remember home and mom by.
This is superb, Shelly! What a fun back to school craft idea!!!
This is adorable and I know your daughter loved it too. I know you are so happy to have her back home too.
What an awesome design and a great gift idea for a teacher.
This is just so awesome! I LOVE how you made it and the way it hangs, I bet it looks great in the classroom!
This is so clever, and just a perfect decoration for a classroom. Lots of interesting details, and the scoring does show up very nicely in an enlarged photo. You're a genius to think of ways to design this to CAS the Pinterest inspiration. Your daughter's students are going to love it too. How great for you to have your DD back home where you can see her often, and not have to worry that she's so far away. TFS & Hugs. And thank your DD for being a teacher to our young Americans of tomorrow.

This is so cute Shelly and I know she'll treasure it.
It's great having those kids back home isn't it? Our daughter spent 10 years in Ireland and we went over often but it seemed so far way and I'm glad she's back.
This is so cool, Shelly!! I love all the texture/depth added to each part of the pencil, especially those braided borders. They are really pretty!
