Fun with punches!!!

I recently wrote a TUTORIAL for using your straight edge punch on a curved or circular edge, and it is the theme for the try this technique on SCS today!  It is a wonderful way to be able to use your tools that you already have in another way.  I showed the technique to my friend Kim, and she made this card for a workshop that I recently attended:

Kim and I met in a sewing/Smocking guild years ago- the technique is really a sewing skill- you attach lace to a curve, you snip it to lay flat.  So, Kim added a touch of snipped lace between her circular layer and the scalloped edge.
(If you do not have a fabric border on your lace, just gently gather it and work with it until it lays flat- the wider the lace, the more gathered it will have to be to lay flat on a curve.)
Here is the lace laying flat.  You can snip it like this, or cut out little triangles.  If you do just snip it as above, as it goes around a curve the snipped edges will overlap and will add bulk under the curve. It worked out OK with this tiny lace edge, but if it were wider or thicker, the snips would have to be little triangles instead of straight snips into the edge.
The background is Versamark resist, then we sponged over that with Sahara Sand ink.  Of course, I love this set, so had to buy it......!

Thanks for stopping by! Shelly

I remember that tut - you have a knack for making gluing seem even more difficult than sewing! I can't argue with the beautiful results, though.
