New Creative Inspirations Paint –Oh the shimmer……..

Here is a project I made for a color challenge at the Creative Inspirations Paint Blog- colors Yellow, green and lavender.  Sadly, I am in need of two sympathy cards.
  ShellySchmidtApril01FCD
I made the background of this card using a new Technique Junkies Faux Velvet technique- love it in real life!  The technique called for glimmer mist- I used my CI paint instead- I put water in my mini mister, and loaded the end of my paintbrush with paint, then stirred it inside the mini mister, adding paint until it was the correct color.  Here I used Light purple then Royal purple. I wish I could capture the shimmer in the background!  ShellySchmidtApril01closeupFCD
I colored this image from Firecracker Designs by Pamela with the Marker Watercolor Wash technique, then painted over the top with Creative Inspirations Paints Light Purple, Mango and Sunshine.  The SU marker colors are Lovely Lilac, Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango.  There is a very pale highlight of Curry around the image. I added Old Olive leaves around the rose to highlight.

Here is the same technique done with Sunshine Creative Inspirations paint in the mini mister-again, wish I could capture the shimmer. I painted the image as above and applied the CI paint over the top. There is a very pale Lilac wash outside the image. The CS is Crushed Curry from SU.
These cards were inspired by the Creative Belli challenge-spray it (shimmer).
The Creative Inspirations Paints are easy to use, they are water based, and a little goes a long way!  You can paint buttons, brads, paper, plastic, etc!!!  If you paint them over Copic coloring, the blending will show through. You can also color ribbon and flowers to match your project. The paints come in more than 50 colors!
Thanks so much for stopping by- I hope these cards will bring comfort to my friends who have lost loved ones.

Let me Eggs plain……….

CDSEggsplain (400x307)

Before we hit the road this past week-end….seriously on the way out the door, I decided I was going to get a card done for the CDS sketch challenge- I have had this set for ages and ages, and thought it would work well with the posted sketch.

The BG Kraft CS is stamped with a CDS BG stamp with farm sentiments on it in Close to Cocoa. The next layer is Red and it is stamped with the egg from the farm set in White Dye ink. The next layer is distressed by sponging through the mesh onto Kraft CS. The Chickens are colored with Copic markers, and sponged and distressed with Close to Cocoa ink.

Challenges:

Clear Dollar Stamps-Sketch

Pile it on-Animal-riffic

Thanks for stopping by!

D2D Garden Fairy

The D2D Digi image this week is a Garden Fairy.  I made a card using the Belli Challenge this week-a clip and a Sketch. I turned the sketch on its side.  D2D digi card0326
The image is colored with Copic markers and a Sakura Gel Pen. DP and CS are SU.
The D2D digi blog gives a free digital image each week if you post a card using last week’s digital image in a card.
We are on the road- in Ohio as we dropped off one daughter at Ohio State, and visiting colleges with our youngest daughter.  I had the privilege of attending a Copic Certification today- which was wonderful- now I have lots of practice, practice and more practice to do to improve and learn as I color!  My instructor Sally Lynn McDonald was awesome and Mega talented.
Have a great week!

A D2D Floral Bouquet and ATC's

I am in such a floral mood lately- I took a little time tonight to make a card with a digital image from D2D or Designed2Delight.  I colored the image with Copic markers and Creative Inspirations Paints.  The paint have just been newly released, and they awesome.  (They come in over 50 colors, they are water based and a little goes a long way).  I hope you can see the shimmer- I painted it over the Copic marker coloring in the centers of my flowers.  I used Copics W1, E33, E35, YG03, YG17, Y11, R81, R83, R85.
I made the card for a friend that entertained us last night. I used Basic Grey 'Euphoria' DP, and Nestabilities to make the frame around the flowers. Dew Drops finish off the card.
Challenges: Fab and Funky- use something new- my new Nestabilities +digi
Bloggers challenge- think Spring (I am late again)- see the side bar for the link to the group blogs
Crazy 4Challenges-Spring
SBS29 (my blogging group)- Pink, Yellow and Green
Next, I decided to make ATC's- I still was playing with the Creative Inspirations Paint- and I used a light purple over the entire ATC background, then painted a darker Purple directly onto the rubber of the stamps (Oh I do still Love the rubber....!), and green to the stem of the flower.  The tulip stamp set is by Firecracker Designs by Pamela. I used a strip of vellum to Gold emboss the sentiment and the edges of the ATC, then backed it with SU Eggplant Envy. The Dew Drop IRL is the purple of the flower.......
I think that this purple ATC qualifies for Fun with ATC's-Monochromatic challenge, and the 365 sketch challenge for today.
I finished up a group of ATC's I made using a Technique Junkies technique called Brayered Brilliance- I tried to take a picture from the side , so the Gold from the BG would show. Initially I made these 'all green' for a themed exchange I was in, but decided for the group exchange, I would add color to the flowers. The exchange is for the Technique Junkies, and we are interested in swapping ATC's to receive different samples of techniques .
Thanks for stopping by- hope you were able to stop by the FCD blog hop this weekend- I had alot of fun with the digital sample and embossing on a digital image, and the design team had some incredible samples this time!

Digital D'Illusions Blog Hop for Firecracker Designs by Pamela

Pamela has taken the leap and added Digital Images to her line of Stamps at Firecracker Designs.  We are celebrating by making the theme of our March Blog hop Digital images.....and, along the way there will be CANDY!!!  Pamela will be giving away 5 Digital Images to one lucky winner that leaves a comment on each blog. The "Official" start time for the Blog Hop is Friday at 8AM, so if you arrive here early,  there may be some links that are not working quite yet.........
What do you think?  This digital image is printed on vellum and embossed with Ranger Queen's Gold Embossing Powder....yummy!  You need to rub an embossing buddy (anti-static) over the vellum then run it through the printer- pour embossing powder over it right away. I use a fine paintbrush to brush off the stray EP....... You can use an erasable ink pen to touch up areas that 'miss' embossing powder-if there are any- just draw over the area you want to emboss and sprinkle EP over it- fix up the little oops......
The outside edge is sewn with Metallic Sulky thread- the vellum is overlaid on Pale Plum CS. The butterflies are painted with Creative Inspirations Paint- it is very shimmery, you can paint over the embossing and it will not stick- so I did not even have to rub it off. The next layer is Gold Metallic CS, then distressed edge Pale Plum and Plum. The ribbon is 5/8" Metallic Gold.
Here is a close up of the same image printed on Georgia Pacific White CS.  I colored the butterflies with Copic Markers and highlighted parts of the butterflies with Shimmerz (FCD carries this-here is the link ). I highlighted the flourishes with the Sakura Gel Pen. CS used- Barely Banana, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum .
This is a circular Blog Hop, so you can just keep going in a circle until you arrive back here.  If you leave a comment at each blog, you will be entered to WIN 5 Digital Images from FCD.  Here is THE LINK to the Digital images Pamela currently has in the store.   The next stop on the Blog hop is TESA
*Saturday Update- Pamela has a free digital image available if you want to give Dig's a try!  Please link back to her post with a sample of your card- we'd love to see what you do with it!  Here is the link
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Bloggers Challenge happy Birthday + I won more candy!!!

I finally had time to create today- Yeah!  I am such in a floral mood lately- and I also got a chance to play with some new paints made by Creative Inspirations.

Today is our Bloggers Challenge "Mom's" Birthday celebration- Happy Birthday Lisa! It is also a Birthday at Gingersnap, where they asked for Frosting on your card- I frosted my butterflies with a 2nd layer and CI paints-link below.  I used a new Sketch challenge put out by Pamela at FCD- love the way it worked out!  I stamped the butterfly 6 times and cut out three of them, attached just the center section so they are dimensional. The BG is called Brayered Brilliance from the latest Technique Junkies newsletter- all in SU greens and Brilliance Gold inks.  Stamps are Firecracker Designs by Pamela  (Sitting Pretty, Butter/Dragon Fly, and the ATC set 2009) and SU sentiment.
This card also qualifies for a few challenges:  Clear Dollar Stamps- Green , and Stamp Something-Green and Cream, Tanda Teaser-Simply Spring and Charisma-Beautiful Butterflies

I used a new paint by Creative Inspirations- they are wonderfully shimmery- I painted them on, but you can use them in many ways- dabbed on, add to water in a mister and mist it on- use like Radiant Pearls or any Mica product to get shimmer on your card. I will be storing them in small clam shell boxes where I can very easily visualize the colors.
I also wanted to mention a HUGE THANKS to Becca for her recent Blog Candy that I won!

I have been very blessed with winnings lately- I keep hearing-"go buy a lottery ticket"!!!  Last week, I also posted cards from all of my blogging sisters, plus one I sent to Joanne, and I won the prize at Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential- 4 digital images from In Style Stamps.  Thanks to Saturday Spotlight and In Style stamps- I have not picked my images yet.
Thanks for stopping by!  You can view more Bloggers Challenge cards by clicking on the icon on my sidebar.
