Bloggers Challenge-Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!!! I am posting a tag I made for Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas for my Bloggers Challenge Christmas theme this week- this is my husband's favorite tag that I made...... The colors are red and green Ranger Distress ink, and the Distress Embossing Powder is Tea Die Distress EP. The flecks are shimmery- I used Perfect Pearls.
On this tag- I followed a tutorial on Shelly Hickox's blog (fellow Technique Junkie) to make the silver flowers- very simple and wow- they look great! I punched the silver fern leaves from metallic silver paper. I had some gorgeous organdy ribbon- it is green with a shimmer of red through it- to finish the tag and I decided to try a technique I have seen on SCS- where you heat your Organdy ribbon- I love the effect.
Now, I do not use tags alot, so made a card out of each of the tags I created as well.... Here is the 2nd tag and the card I created- I made 2 of these. The ribbon treatment is also organdy ribbon with heat applied- this piece shows more of the red tint- it is the same ribbon I used in the tag shown above. The frame stamp is See D's. The Flourish is from ISC, and the Sentiment is from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. I have to say, these tags look alot better IRL!
If you left comments on Tim Holtz blog you had a chance to win goodies! There were about 3000 posts a day, so I was not holding my breath.....well, I got really lucky!!! Here is my Blog Candy from the 12 days of tags post! My package arrived Thursday. I cannot wait to use the Distress Stickles and I love the Rock Candy Crackle Paint.
How awesome is that?
If you click on the Bloggers Challenge icon on my side bar, you will be directed to links for Bloggers Challenge Participants.
I hope you all had a Wonderful time with Family this week and a Blessed Christmas for those of you that celebrate!

100th Post- Digi Angel for Nancy
I knew I had to have this Angel Digi Freebie the moment I looked at it! You see, my stamping friend Nancy LOVES ANY and EVERY angel she sees.........
This will be Nancy's Christmas card. You can find this Angel Digi here at Delightful Inspiration- no longer free after Monday 12/21....
I printed out the Angel onto Vanilla SU cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers: R46, R39 then R59; G24, G29, Y21 and then the edges with Y21, E31, E33-picking up colors from my BG paper. The BG paper is from Joann Fabric- DCWV Holiday Collection. The pattern is from the Technique Junkies latest newsletter and it is called Herringbone.
I recycled some ribbon and a large SU brad from a card that was sent to me about month or so ago, and then added some generic Vanilla colored brads to coordinate. I also pierced the Upper Rt corner of the main image piece and below the lettering. The lettering (sentiment) is from a SU set- also recycled from the same card.....I am not sure of the name.
I sure hope Nancy does not stop by here before she gets this- but if she does, I think she will like what she see's!!!
Now I need to figure out a special card for my friend Diane..........
Have a Wonderful Blessed Christmas if you do celebrate!
Oh- I will have to come up with some fun Blog Candy to Celebrate 100 posts!!! Wahoo !!!

Bloggers Challenge-Sketch Challenge
Our Bloggers challenge this week is a Sketch Challenge. It is a perfect sketch for my card- my family Christmas card. I just HAD to have this Stampin Up set called Holy Family, and I made a dozen of these cards. The card is a little larger than my usual card- 5 1/4 wide x's 7 high .
The Brown Bagging technique is from the Technique Junkies newsletter- it is easily accomplished with items around your house and gives a very nice textured background. I decided to color in the image with my SU chalks- and while it would probably look better watercolored or if colored with Copics, I like the homey feel I achieved with the chalks- especially since Jesus was born in a Manger....not at the Hilton........ : )
To see the other cards made for the Bloggers Challenge this week- just click the Bloggers Challenge icon on my sidebar- you will not be disappointed!
Here are Challenges that this card qualifies for:
Stamp Something- Holiday theme
Practical Stampers- Christmas
One Stop Craft Challenge- Christmas Love
Winter Wonderland- Nativity
Stampin' Sisters in Christ-Bling it up (Background and Dew Drops)
Off to get ready for company- my brother Shawn is coming in from Boston Friday with his son Conner- who is three- I am looking forward to breaking out the Brio Train and the Barney Tapes........ Hahaha Do you think the songs are still the same???
Have a great weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!

Keeping Warm- and look who came to town and stopped by to say HO Ho HO!!!
I should have gone to bed instead of looking at the Sketch Challenge on SCS.........I am going to be sorry today.....I am up late to make this card and am working 12 hours today......Oh Well....I enjoyed every minute of it!
I used up the 2nd and last piece of the Herringbone patterned background I made Sunday tonight on my card. I learned this technique from the Technique Junkies Newsletter (which would make an awesome Christmas gift if you do not get the newsletter already!!!) I stamped the gloves from the set Love Never Melts from FCD and then used the sentiment from the set Let's Celebrate from FCD - which is a family favorite (My husband Ray has a really fast metabolism and is always very warm, but his hands are always freezing!) The sentiment is stamped in SU Brilliant Blue, and the gloves colored in SU Blue Bliss- plus I added Ice Stickles to the top of the glove, and a little ribbon to hand them up with. I used the Cuttlebug to emboss the Background strips, and highlighted the embossing with SU Brilliant Blue, then painted on Shimmerz over the top. The ribbon is from the Dollar Spot at Target...... Another fun card to make- a fun winter card to give away to a friend.
Tonight, Santa stopped by. I told him all of the things I would love for Christmas- most of which are all stamping related. Paper from the Paper Temptress.....a couple of Copic markers, and a book on using Prismacolor Pencils......among other things. I will also be getting alot of stamps from FCD from the Black Friday Sale! Wahoo!!!
Santa loves visiting kids in the neighborhood each year at Christmas time, and since we do not have little kids anymore, we find out what all of the HOT toys are.....I never heard of a Shelf Elf.......I will have to look that up- seems almost all of the little kids asked for them.
By the way- Pamela at Firecracker Designs is still having her BLOWOUT inventory sale- however, she has taken some time off from the store for the Holidays. You can still order anything in the store-including sale stamps, Flower Soft ETC, and the orders will be processed in the order they are received....but the orders will not be shipped until Jan 4th. This week Thursday, 12/16, the select SALE items at the FCD store are 60% off!
Digital images CAN be ordered and will download for you, so you CAN still order them while Pamela is baking cookies, shopping for gifts, wrapping presents, etc. I have a DIGI poinsettia card almost finished to post on Thursday night- it is such a pretty image- THIS LINK will take you to the Digi page at FCD!
Have a Blessed day today!

Snowball Fight! and....what to do with your leftover Pumpkin.........
I love the snow- not the cold.......I love the snowmen that survive the weather after the snowstorms- I have so many fun memories building snowmen with my kids and with my siblings growing up. I decided to make my little snowman in the Snow Shepherd Family stamp set from FCD to have a sibling to have a snowball fight with. I stamped the image on acetate, then turned it over and stamped the image again on the reverse side of the acetate. Viola- partner in crime created! I colored directly on the acetate with Faux Copics (my Bic markers). I added a dot of glue and Polar White Flower Soft (also from FCD) for the snowballs. The DP is from the target Dollar Spot, and I made the design using the Technique Junkies Herringbone Technique from the latest TJ newsletter. I added the snowflake punched with a martha Stewart punch and a piece of acetate. I dabbed on versamark and embossed the snowflake with Irridescent Ice EP. I put stickles on the snowmen hat . I finished off the card by sewing a Zig-Zag around the edges.
My husband is fascinated by squirrels. He has taken the pumpkin form Halloween, hollowed it out and placed it on our back deck just outside of the kitchen windows. He puts dried corn kernels from his families farm in the center of the pumpkin- so the squirrels crawl in to get the corn. It keeps him amused and i cannot complain. Look how...well fed this squirrel is.........

Bloggers Challenge- Happy Birthday and FCD Blowout sale
Our Bloggers Challenge this week is a Happy Birthday card. Perfect to break up the Christmas Card making and a fun way to try something new. I made a tag-#3 in the series of Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas that he is posting on his blog. I used a variety of alcohol inks, and just dragged them on the felt applicator across Glossy White CS, first up and down, then side to side. I made about 10 of the backgrounds in different colors- and here is the one I settled on to stamp on for my bloggers challenge project.
When I made the tags, I decided I was going to make all of them into cards and use them..... Stamps are Stampers Anonymous and the CS and ribbon is SU Rich Razzleberry .
Thanks for looking, and please click on the Bloggers Challenge icon on my side bar to see all of the wonderful Birthday card ideas the other bloggers have created!

Sketch Challenge at SCS
Wednesday is Sketch Challenge Day at Splitcoaststampers. I should be either cleaning (boo) or in bed....but, I saw the sketch and have had this card in my head for a while now- and it fits the sketch perfectly, so what the heck..... My son is a HUGE HUGE Brett Favre Fan- despite the fact we live in Chicago Bear country here in the suburbs of Chicago.
This stamp set by Firecracker designs by Pamela is such a great one for anything football- I stamped the Jersey 3 times, and colored one for each of Favre's teams- Green bay, the Jets and the Vikings. Well, his first ever team was Atlanta, but I decided not to include that jersey. The numbers are from a retured SU alpha/number set-Outline Alphabet. The BG is called Cuttlebug Highlight and it is done on a SU Top Note Die. The ribbon is from Target's Dollar Spot from who knows when. I drew on the Green background with a White Signo Pen for the football field look.
Please stop by Firecracker Designs by Pamela for her Blow Out Inventory Sale- details:

Seek His Light- Tim Holtz Tag #1 and a couple of cards
I wanted to try to make the Tag(s) Tim Holtz is making- 12 Days of Christmas- I started on Day one (12/1)....and have just finished Day one.....yikes- I am a little behind! I decided to try the technique on more than one kind of paper- 1)Manilla Tag (that is what Tim uses), 2) Regular white tag, 3)Top Note Die in Whisper White (SU). I do not know why, but my Manilla Tag looks green not blue- so I threw it out (looks like tornado weather- could not see making anything else with it). Tag #2 was made on a plain White Tag that I rec'd from a Secret Sister swap on SCS. This is the first tag on my blog today. I love the way the Rock Candy Distress Crackle looks IRL- it is a great background and shimmery too. I do not have the stamps Tim was using on his blog so I substituted and used stamps from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. The Shepherd Snowman and sheep are from a new set released this year- I was thrilled- I was wanting to make Christian themed cards- at least for relatives- and I have alot of relatives! The set is called Shepherd Snow Family- you can see it here. The snowflakes are from FCD sets Love Never Melts and Let's Celebrate. The swirl in the BG is from Innovative Stamp Creations set Art4framesII.
This tag qualifies me to enter the following challenges:
IncyWincy Designs- Snowflakes
Stamp Something-glitzy somethings
Pink Elephant- Your Favorite Christmas Color- BLUE!
Clearly I Stamp- Winter
Pile it on- Tinsel Town-Glitter
Copic Creations- Snow/Snowpeople
Creative Card Crew- Christmas
I used Copic markers to color in the Snow Shepherd and family on the tag and cards. I used the following colors:
B21, B23, B24, B26, Bvoo, E0000, E000, E00, E31, E33, YR07, Y13, C2, C3, R20, R22, R24, R27
I did not have the Rock Candy Stickles, so used Crystal Ice Stickles and for the star I used yellow stickles also by Ranger on the star and the lantern. I mounted my Top Die Tags onto CS to make a card out of them- used colors from the Bg for the Purple- that is Eggplant Envy (retired SU).
For this card, I decided to try Brilliant Blue- too much of the same- so I took a piece of Yo Yo Yellow and did a Technique called Cuttlebug Highlight- that really made the yellow 'pop' on the card.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

MoJo Monday on Friday
I found this Fairy image-same as in my prior post- on a website by artist Phee McFaddell- intended as a coloring page- look here for the site and to check out her beautiful artwork. My Mother loves Fairies, so I just know she will love this Poinsettia Fairy, so I decided to make her Christmas card with this image.
Here is the sketch for this week for the MoJo Monday Challenge that I used for this card:
I also want to let you know that Pamela at Firecracker Designs is having a Blow Out Sale for Christmas- here are the details:
This has been a really hectic week for me- as I am sure it is with everyone. I worked a bit extra at the hospital, and my daughter started basketball. It is so cool- this year she plays in the big gym with the announcers and music during breaks and all- and her name is up on the scoreboard (as is the entire team). She is on the JV team, so she plays and then is required to stay and watch the varsity team as well. My husband is a basketball ref, so he can tell me all about what is going on if I do not know what a call is...........
I hope you are all having Blessed preparations for Christmas and Baby Jesus' Birthday!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Close-up of the card- can you see the Angel Wings shimmerz on the fairy wings? That is available for purchase from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. You can also see the small poinsettia flowers popped up on dimensionals. The Copic marker colors are in the next post- I also cut out one of the fairies and made an ornament for my Bloggers Challenge. The DSP is Basic Grey Figgy Pudding.
Other challenges this card fulfills:
Saturday Spotlight for Hidden Potential for her Poinsettia Hat
Cupcake Craft Challenge- for Red and Green
Pink Elephant- Favorite Coloring Tool
Incy Wincy- Red and Green
Corrosive Challenge- red and green
2 Red banana's- Christmas card
365 Cards Day 275- Red and green
This is a set called Christmas Phrases from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. It has become my go-to set for so many of my cards for Christmas Phrases- and it is so reasonably priced- just $8.99 for all of these wonderful stamps!

Bloggers Challenge ; Christmas Ornament
The challenge this week for the Bloggers Challenge was to make an ornament or a Holiday decoration. I have a zillion ideas of things to make- and this is nothing close to what I had planned.........
I found this image on the internet at a website where it is an image- I believe intended for a coloring page. The artist Phee McFaddell has a website where you can view her images- Here is the Link .
I used the Pendant Nestability, cut out Silver Metallic and chipboard for the BG. The image is colored with Copic markers and the wings are colored with Shimmerz. Copic Colors are:
E000, E00, E31, E33, E35, E37, Y13, Y21, Y26, YG06
R02, R20, R22, R24, R27, R29, R39
I am not really a fairy person, but like this Poinsettia Fairy- and plan on sending it and a Christmas card I made with the image to my Mother (and Father)- who will absolutely love this! I will post the card later today after errands.......It is up...here is the link to the blog post with the card.
This ornament is a sample of 'smocking' that I mention on occasion. It is made with a piece of satin material put through a gear mechanism called a pleater- it has needles threaded with strong thread (like quilting thread) that gathers up the fabric. Then, I use needle and thread to stitch designs in the pleats. The top is closed with what we smockers call a spider web. The ornaments can be made in a multitude of fabrics and colors- and on some I add beads to really glitz them up. It takes me an evening or two to make one of these after the fabric is pleated- it is mindless-as long as the design matches up when you get to the end of a row........

The Metallic Silver background makes this look as if it is off white- I cannot get another photo this AM.
I paper pieced the silver at the top. The colors of SU markers I used are Red, Brilliant Blue, Bordering Blue, Yo Yo Yellow, Barely Banana and Glorious Gree. Yellow Stickles was applied to the yellow stars and the star on top. These are not my usual colors, but I like the way it turned out.Don't Forget the BLACK FRIDAY specials at Firecracker Designs by Pamela- I ordered mine this morning!

Sledding with my Puppy and BLOG CANDY
BLOG CANDY is on my previous post- 6 HSN Cuttlebug Folders- Open through Friday at 8PM
Please leave your e-mail address on the PRIOR post to win.
Also, if you were referred by a friend- leave her name too- she will get an 'extra' chance to win!
I like to try the sketch challenges when I can- and this weeks Sketch at Splitcoaststampers is a great one- perfect for this sweet little Vintage child on a sled with a puppy. This sentiment and the Sledding child with a puppy are from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. The child on the sled is one of just a few of the clear stamps she offers.
I saw a posting for Faux Flower Soft that I thought would be fun to try. Cut a Styrofoam ball in half, and rub the halves together- Faux Flower Soft. You can put reinker in a baggie with it and color it any color you would like- so it will match your project. I added Martha Stewart White Glitter named 'snow' in with it, and glued it to the CS.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Do You See What I See? And Blog Candy
I am really enjoying crafting with this stamp set- I really love this Snow Shepherd that is looking up to the sky-seeking His Light!
I repeatedly masked and stamped the sheep for the BG. I outlined the sheep and highlighted them with Copic marker W1, and the panel sponged with Close to Cocoa. The stamps are from Snow Shepherd from Firecracker Designs by Pamela- the words Do you see what I see were stamped for the panel on the Rt. It is matted on Bordering Blue CS by SU that is sponged with ink and distressed.
Then, the Snow Shepherd is stamped and colored with Copics:
Skin: E000 and E02 Arms E11, E31 and E33 Carrot for a nose-YR07
Star Y13 and the Shepherd's clothes: B21, B23, B24
Outlining and grounded by C0 and C2
I stamped the star on the lightpole and cut it out carefully. It is colored (Y13) and covered with stickles.
The image is outlined with Bordering Blue and I used the Torn Frame technique from the Technique Junkies.
OK- now on to the Blog Candy- I have a set of 6 Cuttlebug Folders from the Home Shopping Network to give away- leave a comment by Friday 11/27 at 8PM. If you tell a friend and they mention your name when they leave a comment, I will put your name in for another chance to win.

Blog Candy will be awarded at 8PM on Monday November 23rd CST on my blog. (Remember we may be in different time zones).
Here is the set I am giving away!
These are my 'Thankgiving' items for Friends and people who are significant to me:
I have been having fun paper crafting this past week. I originally had a different project in mind, but then came across this awesome Tag Box on a blog- with the dimensions. I just had to give it a try. I really liked it, so it became the new direction for my Blog Hop project.
Here it is open- I added the blue scallop out of a coordinating paper, and used Christmas Phrases 1 by FCD for the sentiment . I added some bling on the top of the Tag Box. The tags are made with the Matchbox Die from SU and the Tag Punch by SU. The Tags inside are stamped with various FCD sets- on the Lt- gloves from Love Never Melts, the center- Christmas Phrases 1, and on the Rt, snowflakes from Love Never Melts and Let's Celebrate- all from FCD.
Next, I decided to make some Tag Boxes. They are made with base card stock cut 2 3/4 wide by 7 inches long. The CS was scored 2 1/2 inches from each edge. I made side pieces that are 2 5/8 and tapered to fit the side- on the top 1 3/8" wide and the bottom 2 inches wide. I used red line tape to attach the side and the tags to the front and back. The tags measure 2 3/4 " wide by 4 5/8" long. You can change any of the measurements to make your tag box it's own size.
Box on the Lt: Basic Grey Figgy Pudding,Scallop punch SU +acetate
Middle box- label from Matchbox Die by SU, sentiment Christmas Phrases 1 by FCD
Box on the Right-Nestability Labels 4 (3rd smallest), Sentiment Christmas Phrases 1 +acetate, scallop edge punch SU for Dp on top and bottom and bling.
Next, I decided to take a hinged box and make a gift box. This is so quick and easy. I embossed the snowflakes from Love Never Melts and Let's Celebrate with White EP and sponged on Soft Sky and Blue Bayou onto labels from Avery- the address label size. The labels are wrapped around Hershey nuggets. The sentiment is from Christmas Phrases 1.
The CS wrapping the box (retired SU Baroque Burgandy)was cut to fit and punched with the scallop edge punch by SU. The Basic Grey paper, again Figgy Pudding, was added and the sentiment mounted on Soft Sky. White organdy ribbon added around the box like you would wrap ribbon around a gift box- hard to see in the picture.
Finally, I finished my stamping fun with tags made that fit into a box made out of a piece of DT. The link for the box that fits ATC sized tags or ATC's was found here.
I had to add some techniques from the Technique Junkies Newsletter to my project.
The tag to the far left- ink Ranger- Trees from Just Breathe Again, Sentiment-Christmas Phrases 1 and technique Simple Green
The 2nd to the Lt tag (blue) is made with the Faux Sanding Technique. The snowflakes (FCD as above) are embossed with White EP, and the image colored with SU markers and Angel Wings Shimmerz (from FCD). Can you see the little mouse on the tag too? Sentiment and snowman from Snow Shepherd from FCD.
Tag #3 The ornaments from Christmas Phrases 1 stamped in Black Memento Tuxedo Ink and colored with Su markers. Each ornament covered with Crystal effects. Tag top punched with the SU scallop edge punch and outlined with Faux Stitching Technique (TJ). The faus stitching and the strings the ornaments are on are done with a Sakura jelly Roll Pen.
Finally, the last tag is DSP on the top, the SU Poinsettia embossing folder from SU- the flowers were individually cut out and painted with Shimmerz after centers colored with Baroque Burg (SU). The Tag is outlined with a Gold Leafing pen and the sentiment from Christmas Phrases 1 is embossed with Gold EP.
Whew- are you exhausted from reading all of that? Thanks for hanging in there!
The next stop on the blog hop is Tesa
Please don't forget to leave an e-mail address so I can contact you if you win the Blog candy. Good Luck!
And, I will be posting another card at the end of this blog hop (Monday night) with another blog candy- please stop back to check it out!
Thanks for stopping by!

Prismacolor Poinsettia
This is a quick and easy card made using Prismacolor and Gamsol I made when I took a basic class-as mentioned in my Give Thanks card last Friday. I do not know who makes this image. The center has gold elements by Barbra Trombley's . I outlined the edge of the card stock with the image and the red behind it with a gold leafing pen.

Featured Stamper "Dawn, aka Treasure Oiler"
Each Sunday, there is a challenge on SCS where there is a chosen Stamper- you find a card in their gallery, and change 3 things on the card. This week the Featured Stamper is Dawn .
I had some fun today using a digital image that is brand new over at Firecracker Designs by Pamela .
Well, I accidentally stamped the sentiment in the wrong spot to start off with.....So, to avoid wasting CS, I flipped the card, and adjusted..... The Technique panel again was stamped repeatedly with Versamark and embossed with Silver EP. I sponged around the edge with Bashful Blue. The main image has been printed on Vellum and is colored in from behind with SU markers. I had a small area that was empty at the bottom, so I added the clear Dew Drops with Crystal Effects.
These cards are quick and easy to make- I will be making more of them. This is the same digital image- printed in different sizes and on different papers- including vellum. That is one of the things I enjoy about digital images- they are inexpensive and versatile.

Pamela has just released an awesome set of stamps for Christmas called Christmas Phrases 1. My desire this Christmas is to make Christmas Cards with a Religious Theme or Christian message, so was thrilled to see this set released (Thanks Pamela!). With the phrases combined with the new Digi of the Bust of Baby Jesus, I went to work today. Here is what I came up with:
For this card, I printed the Digital image from FCD blog posting, and printed it out on Stampin Up Whisper White and Georgia Pacific CS, plus, I printed out a page of images on Vellum (from Marco's Paper). I printed out a couple of different sizes by opening up a Microsoft Word program, and I saved each program so the file is set and ready to go if I want to make more cards with them. This image is watercolored with SU colors and an Aquapainter. The Nestability cut out is the largest size in the Labels Four- so to add dimention, I outlined it with the Silver Leafing Pen. The side panel is reinker smoosh from the Technique Junkies newsletter.
For the next card, I cut out a smaller digi image (same download, just resized smaller) with a Labels Two Nestability. The BG has the square stamp made with all words stamped repeatedly with Versamark on the bashful Blue (SU) CS, and on the Reinker smoosh panel, I embossed with Silver EP. I like this one better, but my husband does not like that there is no sentiment in black......so I made another card......

Bloggers Challenge Happy Fall Ya'll
This week I took a beginners class with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol at The Cottage Stamper in St Charles, Illinois. It is not a huge store, but there is ALOT of great stuff packed into their space.
I have had a set of the pencils for 10-12 years, and they have been dusted off finally! This is my fall card we created in the class with a stamp by Northwoods.
A couple of things I love- the leaves of the sunflower are outlined with a glue pen called Quicky Glue by Sakura and glitter sprinkled on. I love this look- and I have a lot of glitter to use. In the centers of the flowers, we applied glue and then used Barbara Trombley's Elements- this is a great earthy look- I love it IRL. There is some applied to the wheat stalks as well.
I am starting to work my way through the book Masterful Color Vibrant Colored Pencil Paintings Layer by Layer by Arlene Steinberg. The first exercise I am going to work on is taking Prismacolor Pencils and make my own color wheel. Once I do that, I am going to figure out a chart (like my Copic chart) by color for the Prismacolor pencils- I have not found one yet, so may have to create one. It will help me in the long run to learn which pencils will look good together as well.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy a wonderful fall day!

Sunday Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers:Scene Silhouette and Saturday Spotlight for Hidden Potential
The Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers is Christine M., aka Chrisations.ink!
This is a link to the SCS Featured Stamper Challenge
The Sunday Featured Stamper Challenge is to pick a card and change three things. This is the card that inspired me: Something Lavender
My first idea was to make a Christmas Card. I stamped the trees 5 times first in Old Olive then in Versamark, and then in Always Artichoke and Versamark. I clear Embossed the entire group of the trees.
Next, for the sky, I brayered on some Bashful Blue- oops- there was some green on the brayer (or in the blue ink- hope not), so the sky looked kinda like a tornado was on its way. Night of Navy to the rescue- I am using Stamping Up ink colors if you are wondering. I brayered lightly the Bashful Blue again to highlight the moon.
I sponged the navy ink around the edges of the card, and added just a touch below the tree bases for a little highlight.
Next, I added Irridescent Ice EP after I colored Versamark on the branches and the card base with the Versamark Pen. I did this twice and I made a mess- lots of glitter all over the kitchen!
I decided instead of just adding a sentiment, as was my initial thought, to add in the snow Shepherd Mom and Child and use the sentiment Seeking His Light. I like to try to make my Christmas Cards with a Religous tone if at all possible. Don't you love Mom's facial expression? Feeling the warmth of Jesus shining on her face- he's the reason for the season afterall!
The stamps I used are from Firecracker Designs by Pamela- the Snow Shepherd set and Just Breathe Again for the trees.
Cardstock by Stampin Up
This also meets the Challenge at Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential- use a stamp repeatedly- as in my trees- on your card.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

ASC4 Aly's Sketch Challenge
A Sketch Challenge by a 10 year old- she has her own blog for the challenge- too cute, huh?
So, I had to play along- here is the sketch:
I found an image of a cute penguin from an image swap I was in last year- so I have no clue where it is from.
I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I added flower soft to the white parts of the hat, the beard and the sleeve cuffs.
The BG was put through the Cuttlebug and highlighted with Bravo Burgandy.
The flower is colored with bravo Burg and the stamp on it is Peace by Firecracker Designs by Pamela- there is a Dew Drop in the center of the flower..
So, here goes- my interpretation of the sketch:
Thanks for stopping by!

Bloggers Challenge- Pick a Technique- Reflection
In all of the years that I have been stamping and creating cards, I have never made a reflection card! I greatly admire them, but for some reason, have not given it a try yet. Some of the directions tell you to use a brayer, some waxed paper, some go into great lengths about lining up your image, some use a Mirror Image stamp (I have one- have only tried using it once..) ..... Well, I came across a tutorial for doing the reflection technique that is so easy, I am not sure why I have never given this a try before! The link is HERE. I have never heard of using acetate before for a reflection image- but it is fast and easy- I used Tuxedo Memento ink, and I could see right through the acetate- so the reflection went directly where I wanted it to go! Now, this stamp has a bit of detail in it, and you can see that it transferred beautifully- this stamp is Riley Raccoon from FCD.
Coloring it, I ran into trouble finding the 'right' colors. I tried my Copics- but I did not have the right color to finish the sky. While I was experimenting with colors, I found a great post on Prismacolor Pencils on Splitcoaststampers.com that is mentioned in the previous post on the Featured Stamper card. I found some recommendations for using Prismacolor pencils-I could not help get out my pencils and give it a go. Here are the colors I used:
Raccoon- 1018- wait that is pink! I used the Complimentary color uncoloring technique- it really does look better than the raccoon images I colored without it..... and the GREYS: 1051, 1052, 1054 and 1056 (over the pink color- really!).
Grasses: 988, 911 and 908. Mushrooms: 940, 942, 1034 and the log: 945, 946, 947, 948. And, I used Black to highlight Riley's mask and darker highlights around his head and face.
I added a touch of color with the Aquapainter -Creamy Carmel and Close to Cocoa at the base of the log, then used the small grass and larger grass stamp from the FCD set called Just Breathe (again) I added grass with Old Olive- I added the first layer, then Aquapainted over it so it looked natural- to get rid of the white spaces, then once that was dry, added another layer of stamped grasses.
Ok, next I added a wash with the Aquapainter in Bashful Blue ink to the base of the card. I used a stamp from the Just Breathe stamp set that gives the ripples in the water with Bashful Blue. I added another layer of color wash to deepen the color.
For the sky, I punched out a scalloped oval, and used the blue ink with the Aquapainter and colored around the edge of the scallop. I went over the lines with the Aquabrush to soften the lines.
Finally, I decided to use the layout from Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge 253- I have not been able to do the Sketch Challenge in a while and like the way it looks with this sketch. I stamped the water waves image from Just Breath (again) again.... in blue on the background papers and on the edge triangles. I stamped the REFLECT image from the stamp set Thinking of You .
I added Dew Drops in the bottom Lt corner to balance the card. Finally, I added a little bit of white gel pen by Sakura to the ripples in the water- I like the look I achieved.
CS used all SU- Sahara Sand, Choc Chip, Brocade Blue and White.
**Remember for Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol- use a coated paper like SU Whisper White- you want the color to move on the surface and blend- not to be absorbed into the paper (like Georgia Pacific or papers good for Copic markers)
I hope you enjoyed my Reflection Technique for the day- and, thanks for stopping by! Click on the link on my sidebar to view the other Bloggers Challenge Technique ideas for today.

FS143 at Splitcoaststampers
Today the Featured Stamper at SCS is Miss Boo. She is the Queen of Clean and Simple- both of which I think are HARD! With a FS challenge, you have to change three things- I changed:
1) no stamp used for the candle
2)I added embossing with the CB on the candlestick
3)I used a different ribbon treatment.
Here is a link to the card I cased
Beautiful, huh?
OK, so I have no stamp with a candle- so I improvised. I took plain Real Red CS and put it through the Cuttlebug, then highlighted the embossed areas with Real Red ink straight from the ink spot. Next, I cut out a 'topper' and applied black ink around the edges with a sponge. I added red stickles to the 'topper'. The flame is the inside of the campfire flame in this set (by FCD) Well, all of the Holly leaves are HUGE, so I decided- why waste the rest of a good image- and colored in the campfire with green Prismacolor pencils and blended with Gamsol- which worked OK, so I stamped a few more of the flames, colored them in and cut them apart- these leaves became my leaves at the base of the candle. I added a few red stickles for berries on the leaves, then added yellow stickles to the flame.
The ribbon treatment is a little different from the card I was CASE'ing. I folded the ribbon a couple of times- like a flat bow tie. I folded a piece of ribbon ~ 6 inches long in half, did a gather stitch along the edge and pulled it closed and tied it for the little flower. Without folding it in 1/2, it was way too big. Then, I took red thread and gathered a cluster of red seed beads and applied them to the center of the little gathered flower. The sentiment is from a new set at FCD Shepherd Snow Family
I made two of these cards, and since we are getting closer and closer to Christmas, that was a good thing!
A great challenge for a Sunday afternoon.
I colored the leaves and the flame with Prismacolor Pencils and gamsol. I found a great thread on SPS talking about the pencils, and stayed up half of the night reading it. I have a set of 120 of these pencils, and would love to use them more- need more color confidence. The combination of greens was a suggestion by Mr Hambo on the thread. I used 1005 Limepeel, Marine Green 988, Kelp Green 1090 and Dark green 908. I added a touch of White to the center of the leaves. The flames on the candle are 917 and 1003.
I spend some time making a color chart, and writing down the 8 or 10 newer pencils that I do not have- as they retired a few of the pencils in my set and added a few more colors. Here is that post if you care to check it out.

I love to have charts like this- as I use mostly SU papers, and it makes it easier to match up colors.
Thanks for stopping by!I sure hope you enjoyed my ramblings today!
