CYS- Gift Holder

For our monthly Challenge Your Stash aka CYS post, Vicki challenged us to make a gift holder.

I bought a few fun templates from the Silhouette store, then came across THIS fun idea from Jennifer McGuire's Blog. It is different from anything I have seen or tried, so had to give it a go!
I used a digi stamp from Sweet n Sassy-Cocoa : )

How fun is that.....!   It is easy and quick to put together.  Find OLD as dirt DP...yep!  Use it on the bottom of the card.
Next, die cut an opening in the top of the card- I do not have the dies used in the above tutorial, so used one I did have.....

Before you cut, make sure your die is where you want it. Place the edge of the cutting plate where you want the cut to end.....  there you go!

Here is the fun peek a boo window after the die cut.  I scored the line at the base of the die cut.

Add some double sided tape to the back of the cardstock- make sure gift card has tape fairly close to keep it from flopping all over : )

Although these pictures are mine, the idea came from the tutorial posted above : )

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of' pile....... HERE is a link to all of the November gift Holders the group members posted for this challenge.

Christmas Gift Tag

I had a bit of time in the craft room- finally!  I decided to check the Catch the Bug iapiration for the day, and used the  SCS technique challenge- watercolor impression to create!

I did not follow the tutorial on SCS exactly.... I used regular cardstock instead of watercolor paper.  I applied Distress ink and then spritzed a stencil, placed it wet side down onto the cardstock.  It makes a pattern in the ink as it lifts some of the color.

I had to use this fun peeking reindeer from Bugaboo- I just love the last release- so many darling images!!!

The to/From stamp is from Inkadinkado.

I had so much fun today- I bought a Scan and Cut and it has been cutting out all of my images today- I absolutely LOVE it!!!

Crayon Resist

I had a moment to create this week, and took the opportunity o make a swap for the AOSA (About Oriental Art) Yahoo group- theme- dragonflies. This is a type of crayon resist.

And, I made a full sized card using the same technique:

The SCS had a Try a New Technique challenge on Monday.  I have done a variation of this technique, but this one was much easier.....  I took white cardstock, placed it on an embossing folder with the impression part of the folder up. I ran a crayon over that and then rubbed/brayered on color.
You get a better impression on the card vs the ATC of what the embossing folder design is.
The dragonflu is by Michael Strong, the sentiment MFP.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

COF

November: Hostess ~ Jody

I originally chose November because I wanted to celebrate Gratitude or Thanksgiving, as I was searching through the scriptures for verses for those words, I came across the following scripture:
"Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving" - Psalms 147:7

…this verse spoke to me, as music and giving thanks to the Lord through song has always been an important part of my worship and study. One year I took our hymn book and studied the scriptures that went with each hymn, it was a wonderful new way to study and added much to my life. Two of my favorite hymns are "How Great Thou Art" and "Come Thou Font of Every Blessing", as the words in these hymns expresses our gratitude to the LORD.

Your challenge is to make card that represents how worship through music touches your life. It could be something that represents a favorite hymn, a song of gratitude, your favorite type of music, anything along those lines, the field is wide open. Looking forward to your creations.

I took a CAS approach- stamped the image and embossed it, then colored it in with Zig markers. I added some clear Nuvo drops and a bow in twine.

I love music- and learning to play the piano is on my bucket list : )  I am currently beginning my 3rd year.  I am getting there- need to practice more! My Mom played the piano and also sang- she had a beautiful voice!  With her Dementia she has lost some of the piano skills (she can play the older music beautifully), and does not project enough when she sings.

You can see all of the cards HERE on Splitcoast.

Shake it Shake it : )

Tuesday Throwdown is having a challenge for Shaker Cards. ( I have joined the team again!)  The Sponsor is Sweet n Sassy Stamps.

I love the Country Snowman- doesn't he scream let's enjoy the day?!!!  I printed out the image and fussy cut it out.  I colored with Copics.  The die is colored over the cut lines with a white Signo pen and a Stardust Sakura gelly roll pen. The snow (MS) and snow glitter (Sparkle and Sprinkle) and a few sequins are added for the snow.

I hope you will join in the fun at the Tuesday Throwdown Blog!!!

Unity- Plaid

I had a few minutes to make a card using some new stamps : )  I joined in a challenge for 'plaid' on the Unity FB group.

I stamped this image on cardstock twice in black, and on plaid DP in white.  I fussy cut the plaid and the (2nd) white cardstock, then glued them in place.  Then I colored the image with Copics. The die is Gina Marie. The ribbon is from DLART and is Mocha- I won this in the Spring Coffee Blog Hop.  I love the sentiment- I think it is very encouraging!
