Creative Belli Challenge #132- Anything Winter or Christmas

For the Creative Belli Challenge this week, the challenge is to use anything Winter or Christmas themed.

And since I am still in need of Christmas cards....I created one more! I was inspired last year by a Belli team member, Darsi, that designed for Fred She Said and she makes the most gorgeous cards!!! I love the images and have quite a few of them sitting in a computer file...unused.....!
The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!
I am using the Christmas Rose pre-colored stamp set from Fred She Said on Cryogen White cardstock. I tried something new- to cut out the image- I used Spellbinders Labels 9 die and just cranked the end of the die into the Cuttlebug....on each end- I do not think I have ever used this die before...... The middle portion was cut freehand. I cut out black cardstock behind the Labels 9 shape and then added Fleur De Lis corners behind that. The sentiment is also from FFS and I used some gold findings given to me by a friend and added pearls on top of them. The burgandy background Cardstock is from Paper Temptress and is called Red Ruche. I am not sure if my card picture shows the texture in the Ruche cardstock or not- but the link does.....

ATC exchange- Sewing

My ATC group meets monthly and each month we have a theme. This month the theme was stitching/sewing.

This is my 1-4-1 card- we make an additional card- a special card- for an exchange before the rest of the cards. I sewed on eyelet fabric, added lace and ribbon and a collage image.

Rogue Redhead stamp- colored with Copics and Gold metallic thread sewn around the edges. This fits the Dress Down challenge to use just one designer paper at Rogue Redhead stamps challenge HERE

Rogue Redhead stamp, sentiment Create with TLC- paper pieced gloves.

McMahon Five Designs digi -Colored with Copics

House Mouse (I did not need to say that, did I)

Bugaboo digi image colored with Copics- the embossing highlighted with Creative Inspirations paint.

SU image, I made this with Ranger Distress inks- winter colors on a manilla folder. Lots of glitz with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

These are the swap ATC's I recieved:

Lt Mari- the eyes, nose, mouth and buttons are hand sewn as well as the outer rim

Rt Mary W- fabric fused onto felt, stitched around the edge. There are beads sewn on and stars with beads in the center.

Lt Harriet and Rt Cindy- the image was printed on a fusable canvas

Sandy- free form stitching, Diane- stitching on the tree and on the border- love the star button

Lt Marcey and Rt Carol- can yousee the hand stitched star?

Lt Debbie- used wrapping paper for the tree, embossing, stencils. Diane S- stitching on fabric and outside sponged in distress ink and fringed around the border.

Lt- Harriet- the 1-4-1 card that I rec'd. Lori- patwork with Zig Zag. The Joy banner done with Christmas tree punch.

I missed a couple of meetings- so I received a few swaps from members :

Diane S- everything Tim theme

Diane S- metal theme and recycling -flower is the inside of a cheetos bag.

Mari- Zentangle theme.

Onto another year and alot of new great challenges!

My first Art Journal Page

I like to explore different Techniques and I am very drawn to the Art Journaling pages I am seeing on-line....... so, I took the challenge:

I joined a Ning group and this was the first challenge- tear up pieces of Designer Paper and adhere them to your page (I used Gel Medium Matte).

I used SU DSP in Christmas theme. Them I applied a layer of gesso (white). Next I added distress Stain in Broken China and Spun Sugar (I am just drawn to pink and blues....).

Then I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil (Harlequin) and added triangles. I decided to do the next page to coordinate as well, so I took distress ink from my craft mat, added water and painted it on- I added the stencil to the 2nd page as well.

On Page one, I added circles around a punched out 1 3/4" circle. On page 2, I used Spun Sugar and added pink circles. I spritzed on Cranberry Glimmer Mist and decided to stop.
I punched out oval panels and embossed with Swiss dots. I added brown hightlights. then, I added the pink letters and journaling.

On page 2, I decided to use the Smoochie Template from the Art Journaling forum made by Tracey Malnofski (I cannot draw- especially faces!). I used the face pattern supplies and used SU DSP for the neck and hair. I added brown sponging around the edges of her hair templates. I colored the eyes and lips with Copics and added sponging to her cheeks.

I will try alot of different techniques and will probably take an on-line workshop or two.

Michael Strong Tag Blog Hop

While I do not have any Christmas or Holiday Michael Strong stamps, I took a fun Kimono stamp and made a tag in Christmas colors:

The Kimono stamp is embossed in Gold on Paper Temptress cardstock that is shimmery red with a fabulous gold shimmer in it. (Rosso Incandescent). Here is a peek at the cardstock close-up.

The Kimono is fabulous in sparkle. I used Alcohol inks on glossy cardstock for the background. I added a backing of the Rosso on the back. The gold metallic ribbon is paired with Seam Binding that is colored with Copic marker to match the green Alcohol ink in the background.

The next tag uses Rosso again. I ran it through the Cuttlebug for texture for the top layer, which is raised up on dimensionals. The lower layer is a shimmery Gold Sparkle cardstock from Paper Temptress and a red/black patterned DSP. The Kimono die has a coordinating Iris Folding Template that I used to create the pattern you see. The sparkle is so intense I could not get a good photo- you will have to take my word for it. : )
I used Copic markers to color a thin Silk Ribbon for the tag and added a gold cording.

Silent Night

I love this newly released image from McMahon Five Designs called Silent Night.

It was really quick and easy to color- I used Copic markers. I printed the card on Cryogen White cardstock- so there is a shimmer throughout. I added Distress Stickles to the bottom of the card and on top of the houses and on the trees- I smeared it around with my finger..... I did color with a tad of Copic marker first for some shading....I sponged on color to the top using a sponge and a oval scallop punch out, and added a gold bow. This is a quick card- I will making a few more of these for my cards this year!
The Antique Gold cardstock is from Paper Temptress.
We have not had snow here yet.........I hear we will see flurries by the end of the week......I am not sure I am ready!

I started cleaning my craft room today- and am overwhelmed........ So, I thought I'd put together some blog candy and share a bit of my collection!

I used a digi image and sentiment from McMahon Five Designs called Bountiful Harvest. I colored the image with Copics. I used an 'older' paper pad from KC&Co. for the background designer paper- I ran it through the cuttlebug twice and highlighted with Real Rust ink. I recycled a flower from a card from a fellow TJ member and added rhinestones to the sentiment panel to mirror the flowers on the flower.

Make some snow- Gingersnaps tutorial

Those who know me know I cannot resist trying new techniques.....so, when I saw this tutorial on Gingersnaps- it called out my name....not to mention I had a 40% off coupon for Blicks......

So, I printed out the Vintage Santa and the digi cardstock by Create with TLC on Cryogen White cardstock- there is a subtle shimmer in the cardstock- so pretty! Next, I followed the tutorial and added Glossy accents in a thin layer to Santa's image and adhered that to the acetate. Then I applied Glass Bead Gel (which was $6.95 at Blicks and I had 40% off.....). I took a skewer and drew in the snowflakes and waited for it to dry.

I stitched in a Zig Zag around the edges of the CS and added a sentiment and a raffia bow. The sentiment is sitting on a Spellbinders snowflake that is colored in C1 Copic marker and Sakura Gelly Roll pen. The sentiment is also Create with TLC. Let me add- I used red line tape to adhere the picture to the background so it would stay securely.

I discovered there all many different textures available in this gel....so I may be playing more in the future.....for now, one less Christmas card off of my list to complete!

Christmas is a coming.......

I sat and colored a sheet of the free images from Outlawz- they are gorgeous and remind me a bit of my Mother's china painted ornaments.

I added Glimmer Mist to the embossed poinsettia panel (white background). Then added paper piercing to the image panel. All of the sentiments used are by Create with TLC.

I am focusing on shading and using darker colors....in the Copic class we were challenged to use more 7-9 colors...... OK......

This card is a little busy- but someone will enjoy receiving it. The image is beautiful and I am going to try it again and CASE it from Anne's original using pencils or watercolors and make the card a little simpler.......

McMahon Five Designs release 11/17/11

I went to town using this new set from McMahon Five Designs- a little under the weather, so did not get it all done....this set is perfect for cards, tags, you name it! Here are the cards I did finish:

Inspired by Kitty on SCS and her use of the evergreen punch.....

I used the Sketch from Midnight Madness for this card- my mantle is pure wood cardstock from M5D and I used silk ribbon for the mantle and the bow. I cut a Prima flower in half for the two side flowers. The fireplace is made using a technique from the TJ's that makes the CS look like wood- I cut mine up to look like a fireplace. I added Gelly roll pen for some shimmer on the stockings:

All of the images come as digi's black and white and in color as well- as do the sentiments.
Card #2:

I printed out the three trees on text weight Cryogen white - it is sparkly to start out with. I used TJ Whisped Frames and added MS 'snow' glitter. I used another TJ technique for the red punched strip behind the trees called Glitter Roll with the same glitter. Next, I took metallic tape and rubbed it over a star 'wheel' so there are stars on the middle silver layer. I also punched out stars for the trees.

Design Diva's November Oldie Blog Hop

The Design Divas challenges us to use an "Oldie" meaning it is more than 6 months old (and I hate to admit...never used until today) for the Design Diva's Blog Hop. I am working on Christmas cards......

I made this card using a SU set Delicate Doilies. I was inspired by a card I saw HERE. This card uses a Technique Junkies Technique called Faux Designer Paper Too. The cardstock is SU Whisper White, and Paper Temptress Red Pepper columns and Gold.

Outlawz Progressive Digi Challenge

I do not have to cook or clean for Thanksgiving, so I am focusing on my Christmas cards....only 41 days left until Christmas. ..........Yikes!!!

I used a digital image- from the progressive challenge at The Outlawz. SAndi Huggett and Anne Fenton drew such gorgeous images, well I could not resist using them for my holiday cards. I used Neenah white cardstock and colored the image with Copic markers and highlights with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen. Copics used: R24, R29, R39, R59, Y18, Y23, YG06, YG17, YG67 and C1. I used the gorgeous Rosso Incandescent cardstock from Paper Temptress- not only is it red- can you see the gold shimmer???

I added a Zig Zag stitch around the edge of the image panel and around the edge of the card. The clear Rhinestones have been colored Gold with a Y23 Copic Marker.
I have more of the images colored for the challenge and look forward to finishing all of the cards.

McMahon Five Designs- More Holiday Projects

I have all of the Fall cards I need, so have started on some Christmas Projects...... I used new releases from McMahon Five Designs for my projects today.

I just got my new Cd from the Technique Junkies- The 3D and Fun Folds Paper Crafts- and I found a number of projects that I want to try......this is the first one- it is called a feestanding pop-up. It was quick and easy to put together. I used an image and sentiment from the Funny Little Christmas set. I colored the image with Copic Markers- I sponged on a sky (using Soft Sky and an oval scalloped punched out scrap), and stitched around the edge in a Zig-Zag stitch. There are Versamark Dazzle stars stamped on the Pop-up base. HERE is the link for more info about the CD- Oh- say hi to Pat for me if you decide to order a CD!

Here is a close up of the image and sentiment:

I could not resist the Vintage Santa image, 'Santa's Song' - and had to give coloring him a go- Copics and Reds can be a touch challenging to me, but I was happy with how the card came out......

The background paper is My Minds Eye and the rest is from Joann Fabric stacks. I used Technique Junkies Out of the box and Wisped Frames for the image. I colored with Copics and added liquid applique to Santa's fur and beard. I used Ranger Antique Linen distress ink for sponging around the Nestability frame. There are also Sakura Gelly Roll Pen accents on the card- which was printed on Cryogen White cardstock- so it is very shimmery to start out with. I added a letter to Santa...and a sentiment from Create with TLC.

Creative Belli Challenge #130- Piercing

Challenge #130 Paper Piercing (poking holes in your paper)

I got out my Ranger supplies to make my card today- Inspired by Terry who is always talking about Grunge Monday- so I checked it out- All Things Tim challenge is to use the Technique from Tag # 7 from 2009...... I had a few technical difficulties with a few of the products....but was able to complete the challenge. I used the new Distress Ink for the background in Iced Spruce- I thought it would work perfectly with a winter scene. All of the stamps I used here are from Rogue Redhead- they are having an Anniversary celebration- got this in a bundle!
After I did the technique, I used a punch from MS for the snowflakes - had to have it and I think it may be the first time I used it.....and the smaller one- I like it so much, I bought two of them...do you ever do that?....... I took the negative of the punch and sponged through it for the snowflake shadow in the BG. I used two Technique Junkies techniques for my card- Wisped frames and Stacked Nesties. I added sparkle with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

Bloggers Challenge- Sketch

This week for the Bloggers Challenge, Lisa challenged us with a Sketch :

I used a new stamp from Rogue Redhead for my card:

I did some paper piecing and the gloves are 'leveled up' which is a technique I learned from the Technique Junkies. I was feeling grungy, so I distressed the bottom DSP by Basic Grey and sewed around the edge. I also distressed the red layer- SU DSP and sewed that with a Zig Zag stitch. I some technical difficulties with my middle layer, and I decided to add the brown striped DSP . I added red stickles to the heart on the glove and on the top Rt corner.
The circle under the glove uses the new Ranger Distress Ink in red- with Rock Candy crackle paint and then then further distressed with Mahogony Distress Ink.

CREATIVE BELLI CHALLENGE DESIGN TEAM CALL!

We are looking to add some talented stampers to join our team for the first 2012 term, which runs January 1-June 30, 2012. ANY stamper, scrapbooker or papercrafter is welcome to apply!

Requirements:
~ You must be able to follow instructions on time and work well with others.
~ Check out the participants blogs and comment please.
~ Post your work with the weekly code to other Forums you are participating in and comment in those areas too.
~ You may "miss" 3 challenges out of the 6 month commitment.
~ Participate in each Bi-weekly Challenge and upload your project to the Belli blog no later than the Sunday evening before the Challenge Week.
~ Post a permanent DT banner on your blog
~ Join the DT Yahoo Group (our sole means of communication)
~ You MUST have a blog and be posting regularly.

Gift making.....Christmas is on the Horizen......55 days

Have you started thinking about Christmas yet??? It is just 55 days away.......I made a fun gift set using a new product:

I used Safmat to print out an image I colored and applied it to this jar.

Here is another view- I added the puppy to all four sides of the jar (I bought the jar at Target).

This is the tag I made to match the set. I used Twinkling H2O's for the background- a Technique Junkies technique.

I want to explain how I did this- and have listed the M5D DT samples below my pictures.

First, I picked and printed out an image to use. This is Christmas Puppy with Stocking and it is a digital image- you could use a stamped image as well. The image, the sentiment ( Merry Christmas Sentiment buttons) and the Safmat is available at McMahon Five Designs.

Next, color your image and scan it in to your computer- then save it to a file. I used vibrant colors and printed the puppy out a number of times on the Safmat for my project.

The puppy is on the thin adhesive sheet I am pulling up- just for the photo. You simply print the image on a sheet of Safmat and cut it out:

Once the image is printed out, trim around the edges (therefore, you can print the images really closely together ). You can also print out sentiments and use words like rub-ons.

There are video's with the full info on the release at the McMahon Five Designs store in the tutorial section. Best thing about it- you can order just one sheet or 10.....(while you are there, check out the Cryogen White cardstock for Copic coloring- it really is fabulous for coloring- and it has a beautiful shimmer to it)!

It is a Self-Adhesive Film that you can run through your printer.

Safmat retails for a package of 10 sheets for $10.70 OR we are offering it by the sheet for $1.50 each.

Creative Belli 1-2-3-4 and Mcmahon Five Designs New Release 10/27

The Creative Belli Challenge #129 1-2-3-4.

1234 challenge (example: 1 piece of dp, 2 flowers, 3 colors, 4 brads, whatever combo you wish but it must be 1234)

I combined my post with my new release post for McMahon Five Designs this week.

The Merry Mallows image reminds me of my three children when they were little- they always found something to occupy themselves and had alot of fun together!

I used Copics to color the image and added a Pearl pen to the hats and the ball at the top of the hat. The background is Faux Washi by the Technique Junkies and I also used the Out of the Box technique.

I used 1-embossing folder

2-colors of Alcohol Inks

3 Rhinestones on my sentiment tag

4-die cuts for my card- the image layer, green, red and the sentiment tag.

The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!
The tag die cut is an original from when I purchased my Cuttlebug- and I cut the package open to make this card.........

Hope- new McMahon Five Designs BCA freebie

I have Blog candy HERE- it ends tonight- I will be home from work ~ 9PM EST, so By 10 PM.....

I have been inspired to make cards for Breast Cancer Awareness this month. McMahon Five Designs new BCA freebie is released today, so I used it for my card.

Such a fun image, isn't it??? You can find it HERE in the McMahon Five Designs store in the Breast Cancer Charity area. I started with base cardstock by Paper Temptress in Pink- Ohhhhh the shimmer is so awesome- it is called Mountain Rose- it is one of my absolute favorite cardstocks.....!!! For the next layer- I want to show you a sewing tip- you can use your straight edge punches around curves- just like you are sewing in a sleeve or around a neck line.......
First, I drew a circle for my Sketch from Card Patterns:

Yes, I traced around the masking tape and cut out the DSP.......

Next, I punched out the straight edged punch. I liked how this design goes with the tail of the bird:

This will go around the circle......seriously.......
How you ask???

Cut notches in the edging of the punch- come up to ~ 1/8 inch from the decorative edge. Notice the Rt end of the punched strip......if the punch is wider, you will want the notches wider on the bottom too, so the punch will curve smoother- so can you see the difference between the notches on the Rt and Lt end???
Next is the test.......you may need to practice a few times if this is new to you.......

Sorry the picture is a bit blurry- I have applied tape to the bottom side of the edge of my circle, and have started slowly easing the punched edge to it.

There you go- what do you think???

Next, I colored my image with Copics and added shimmer with a Sakura Gelly Roll Pen. The bird die is a Tim Holtz and is cut out of more Paper Temptress cardstock- love the pink and the Kraft colored cardstock together! This is called Safari Brown, and it is texturized in columns- looks awesome IRL as a birdcage too....... I added some pearls to the birdcage and added a row of Cluny lace with a Zig Zag.
I added pink silk ribbon and more lace to the side with a Zig Zag stitch and added more pearls. I added one more little embellishment- I made a decorated Pretty as we call it in the Technique Junkies- that is the flower which is colored with Pink Copic markers.

Fluttering By....................

I tried something new- Water stamping with Distress inks using the colors from a challenge at Gingersnaps.

I used Broken China, Faded Jeans and Dusty Concord Distress Inks. I stamped the Mini Cloisonne butterfly from Michael Strong on the background using the water stamping. Then, in black stamped the Cloisonne Butterfly twice and raised the Rt side of the wing with dimensionals. I spritzed the larger butterfly with Glimmer Mist and added Sakura Gelly Roll pen for accent. The sentiment is a digi from Create with TLC.

I stamped with a butterfly theme for the Splitcoaststampers Hope you Can Cling To Challenge 10/13 which is to use a butterfly on your card.

Fall Fun progressive Challenge

I had a bit of time to create a card today using the Designed2Delight free digital image that I received for using last week's image.

I colored the image with Copic markers and cut it out with Nestabilities 21. The sentiment is from McMahon Five Designs. I purchased a fall floral stem and plucked off all of the flowers- they are really pretty fall colors. I added a SU button in the center of the flowers.

Opposite Day at 365 Cards

I saw a challenge at 365 Cards that got my Mojo going today....... Opposite Day.

First, describe yourself. Now, make something opposite of that........

This card is CAS- not my usual style. Look- no Technique Junkies technique....really..... and, I got out red rubber and inked it up- no digital image today....... And, I always make Jesus themed Christmas cards- last year, I did not send out cards because I did them (as usual) at the last minute and did not get them finished......
The image is from Great Impressions (#H16) I have had it for years and it has not been used in many many....... I colored it with Copics G03, G05, R22, R24, R27 and C1. I added Gold sparkle with an Atyou Spica pen. I pierced two of the edges, added a gold bow and layered that on Red sparkly cardstock that was run through the Cuttlebug with a SU embossing plate.
I know Juliet is going to have to double check to make sure she is on the right blog......hahahaha
