Dinosaur Birthday

My Great Nephew Aiden had his 4th Birthday party this past weekend. I made him a card that I knew he would like, as he is Dino-obsessed!!!

The fun dino set is by MFT (My Favorite Things).  I stamped on SU DSP, using Black Memento Tuxedo ink.  The trees are stamped on DSP and fussy cut. The dino's and clouds are stamped on white cardstock, colored with Copics and fussy cut. The grass was stamped using Wild Wasabi SU ink. I added dotted lines on the faux road using a white paint pen.

I just loved seeing his face when he opened the envelope (and his parents had him read each and every card before opening the presents).

Unity Repeat Stamping

There is a mini challenge at Unity this week and the theme is repeat stamping.

The flower was stamped repeatedly, just one colored in using Copics V12/15/17. For a little glitz, Wink of Stella was added over the top of the purple flower. The sentiment is embossed using Queens Gold embossing powder.  The sequins are iridescent and more purple IRL.

Bugaboo Humor Me Wednesday

I made a card using Gus finally : )  One of my 4 brothers has a birthday in May- and my 1st Grandson was born on his Birthday!  He is younger than I am, but I still thought he would get a kick out of this (Belated) Birthday card!

I colored Gus Birthday with Prismacolor pencils.  I am unsure of the DP manufacturer. The oval die is Spellbinders. The curved gray die (supposed to look like a roller coaster) is by MFT.

And, in case you wanted to see the Birthday Buddy:

How they got a 1 day old baby to smile is beyond me!  I will not meet him in person until mid June....so for now- Facetime and pictures!

Bugaboo- Oldie but Goodie

The spring weather is trying to peek in here in the Midwest- and that means flowers!  I absolutely flowers and coloring them too!  So, really enjoyed making up this card using the Bugaboo Floral 1 set.

I have been using alot of the same colors, so decided to go brighter and cheery today! I printed the image on white cardstock and colored using Copic markers.  The frame die is by Spellbinders (and very old).  The punched edging for the top is by Fiscars. I added a touch of shimmer to the card on the swirls on the image panel. The cardstock is SU. The background embossing folder is also out of the archives!

Unity-April ATC's

I am a bit behind in posting cards....but wanted to post my April Unity ATC's today. We had themes (not mandatory) of Watercolor and Spring.

The roses on my bunnies head are stamped again and fussy cut out, then painted- so this ATC has a little dimension.  The image is from 1/17 LOTM (Kit of the Month).

I used a fun technique I saw on Jennifer McGuires blog, called Smooth Alcohol Ink backgrounds. So, that is how I made ATC #2

I took some pictures as I went along.

After you do your technique, place a folded sheet of paper in your stamp positioner. That will keep the back of your positioner clean when you stamp. Next, stamp the image.  I placed a piece of vellum over the stamped image, you can use a piece of Washi if you want to the top or a side to hold it in place.  This is where I want the image. I placed the vellum over the ATC and was happy with the placement.  Save that vellum for another project : )
Now I will stamp the image on the ATC backgrounds I made.  I am now going to use the piece of paper I placed in the background to help guide placement (or put the vellum over the ATC to line it up).  Ink up your stamp and stamp it out.

Here are a few of the backgrounds in a row.  As you spread the ink over the yupo or glossy paper, the Alcohol inks will begin to lighten up a bit.  Just add a few more drops of ink to the felt and repeat the process.

I loved this technique- and ....why didn't I think of that....!

Lastly, I added a sentiment on a strip of white paper. I decided to stop after that and viola- done!
