CYS- No Designer Paper

This month for the Challenge Your Stash theme this month was given to us by Darlene, and she chose the there to use NO Designer/Patterned Paper.

I covered watercolor paper with Distress inks in purple and yellow.  Next, I spritzed a stencil and laid it down on the paper (wet side down).  The water reacts with the inks and makes this cool pattern. Once dry, I stamped and embossed the butterfly.  I added sequins for a nice final touch.

The CYS group can be located here.  List mom Barb had the brilliant idea- lets use our stash items- with a monthly theme, I am sure finding no shortage of items to use in my creative space for this challenge...!!! Even those in the 'get rid of' pile....... HERE is a link to all of the August cards the group members posted for this challenge.

Outlawz- Swish

I made up a card for the Outlawz Progressive Freebie challenge.

I used the extras of the punched border and embellished the corners on the inside of the card.

This month, Jean Chaney over at Outlawz offered the digital image which is a Zentangle design. It is also offered with Swish- the angel fish- without zentangling so if you wish, you can try your own.

It was very relaxing to just relax and enjoy coloring this scene. I printed out 2 of the images and fussy cut all of the elements except for the rocks at the bottom, and layered them over the image on the original.  The fish is on dimensionals.

I am linking Jean's Blog HERE for you to drop by and check out her work. I am also linking up her Zentangle Blog HERE .

DDD-Catch of the Day

It's the 15th of the month, which means the Dueling Darlings (Splitcoaststampers group) are showing us what they created with the monthly card kit. This month, Carol (Diva's) and I (Dazzlers) are the hostesses, and our theme is, "Catch of the Day".

.........and here is the inside of my card:

I used everything in the kit except the hook eyelet and the yarn fiber. I made this a skaker card, but there are no loose elements included. The sequins and the little fish are all glued down. At the bottom of the shaker, there is a swatch of burlap which I trimmed and colored with Wasabi ink, then glued down. It made a good place for the little yellow fish to swim in : )
Inside, I added white cardstock bordered with blue- as I spilled tea on my card - eeeekkks!
The kit contents:
Images - Clear Dollar Stamps (no longer in business- they did have an angel policy)
Lure DP- Paper Studio
Blue Water DP- Recollections
eyelets- Paper Outlet
Burlap and rhinestones- $1.50 bin
Dies- oval die- Spellbinders; fish and underwater swirl-Unbranded
Cardstock- Blue- SU Pacific Point
Fish dies- Cherry Cobbler, Tangerine and yellow is a shimmery paint over white.
Yellow cardstock- unknown

Love and marriage

We were fortunate to share in a beautiful wedding ceremony recently.  This is the card I made for the young couple:

I stamped and embossed the sentiment from Sweet N Sassy, cut it out with a die from Art-C. (I have a clear stamp, I see the set is now available as a digital image). The background paper is from a DP wedding stack from years ago.....  it was on sale.....full of elegant gold and silver cardstocks.  I added flowers from Prima and smaller roses from my stash to accent them. The swirls are from a shimmery cardstock , the die is Cheery Lynn.  A swirl of pearls finishes off the front of the card.

Here is a close up of the sentiment:

More DTGD

I was able to make a few cards for DTGD at SCS, but have a few more started that I could not get back to.  I will finish them though as soon as I can get up into my art room!

I made this background on glossy white cardstock and used a digi for the panda's.

For this background, I played with acrylic paints. The giraffe's seemed an appropriate fit- this is a stamp from Technique Junkies.

I got out the Distress Oxides for this one- they blend on the cardstock so smoothly!  I used a Cheery Lynn die as a stencil for the honeycomb shapes in the background. I could not resist adding a touch of Copic marker over the Oxide ink for a touch more depth of color in the flowers.

And, this card started with the DP, and I found this little set of Hero Arts stamps I have never opened. I added a spider web over the DP .

Ahhh, it was so nice to get in the craft room!  My husband kept inviting me over and over to bike ride or go for a walk...not today honey : )

Cards for DTGD

I grabbed a few hours of time and made some cards for DTGD challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  I have a number of stamps on my desk I have been waiting to ink up........

This card uses a Hero Art set that I won from my blogging friend Kelly in an  IG giveaway- her daughter drew my name.  I will be using this set alot- love it!

I have had this set and the dies for ages and have not inked it up.  I saw a request for B-day cards (100,000 was his goal)  for a young man and this set worked perfectly!

This card uses a SU flower that is embossed, then diluted reinker added to cardstock and let it run where it may.  Then, the flower is fussy cut out.

I was able to create a few more cards which I will post later in the week.

COF- Every Good and perfect Gift

It is the 7th of August, which means it's time for the Crafters of Faith (COF). Our theme this month is from Lynn- Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

This month let's celebrate life's simple pleasures which bless our days with joy and beauty and meaning.

I was able to use another stamp that has never been inked up!!!  I combined the challenge with a DTGD (Dare to Get Dirty) challenge at Splitcoast Stampers, last year I was able to complete all of the challenges, this year- too busy...

We planted Milkweed this year to attract Monarch butterflies. We have had caterpillars on the plants, but do not think any have gone to chrysalis yet- possibly a family of wrens???  Anyway, we dug up a plant that has some baby caterpillars on it, and moved it inside into our sun room in a big pot. We are like 10 year olds with a science project : )

Oriental ATC's

I am part of a Yahoo group called About Oriental Art (AOSA). We make an ATC each month, then send them to the winner of a drawing/lottery. I won for a month, and it is a blast to receive ATC's from many talented artists from all over the world!!!

   July 2017- theme is Geisha's
Geisha's are Art Neko/About Art Accents. I used a Gelli Plate background done in reds and yellows. I pasted on strips of Washi, and the same Washi is the background for the punched 'Good Luck' image.

June 2017 theme-Things With Wings

The cranes/birds are Art Neko/About Art Accents.

May theme Anything Goes:

This image is by Sparkle and Sprinkle.  I stamped the floral image in Versamark ink & embossed using clear EP.  Then, I dabbed colors onto the craft mat and ran the paper through it.  I dried between layers, and love the way this ink layers- so pretty IRL!  I added a little Asian Kanji in the background.

April 2017 theme- Chrysanthemum

Image is Art Neko/About Art Accents

March 2017 ATC theme Samurai:

I am not sure where this unmounted image is from- lots of Copic coloring and some Washi tape for this one.

Feb ATC- was a recipe- 1) purple, 2) hearts 3) Washi

This is a die from Frantic Stamper and is cut out using Washi Papers.

That catches me up to date I think!  January, I was the winner of the ATC lottery, so I did not make one- the theme was lanterns- it was a blast receiving ATC's all month long!!!
