Sweet Stamps- Dryer Sheet Flowers

At Sweet Stamps we are making dryer sheet flowers for our Monthly challenge.
I have to hide used dryer sheets from my husband- he re-uses them...in the interest of a penny saved..... and then I go to work and have the worst case of Static Cling..... : )

Anyway, I tried a couple of different ways of coloring my dryer sheets- instead of using spray, I used Direct to dryer sheet (red) with Barn Door Distress Ink, and it worked fine.

I also colored directly onto the dryer sheet with Copics (yellow) - added a touch of  "O" to clean off my non-stick craft mat with the left over ink, and let that dry- worked fine as well.

I used my sewing skills to make my flowers- one is a straight piece of the dryer sheet gathered along one edge.

Next, I take both ends of the thread and pull them together and tie it into a knot. One is 1/4" x's 4" and the other is just a touch over 1/4" x's 6"

For the red rose, I cut a circle out of a dryer sheet, cut that around in a circle ~ 3/8" wide:

Next, I rolled the cut strip loosely around a skewer.

I added a couple of stitches of thread at the base so it would stay in place.  I added Stickles to all of the flower edges.

The floral images on the mail panels are stamped and colored with Copics. I used a dryer sheet glued on and glittered over the top. I added a little bit of gathered dryer sheet at the base of the card attached with sticky tape, then added my flowers.

Here are the Sweet Stamps supplies I used:

Very pretty and what great directions you gave for making everything.

I too, have to hide my dryer sheets from my husband, but for a different reason. He will throw them away and then I have none to craft with.

Thanks for joining us at Crafts 4 Eternity.

You certainly rocked the drier sheets Shelly, and love that you tried differing techniques to colour them as well as using them.

Well, who knew?! Certainly not me!!! A dryer sheet - used none the less. Brilliant! Your card looks so good. I really like the softness the sheet lends. Very creative!

Gorgeous card! I've used dryer sheets in the 'silk' technique but not for making flowers--very creative. Thank you for entering our "Stack 'Um Up" Challenge at Simply Create Too & hope to see you next challenge too.
